Coaches in the ACC know each other's rosters better than coaches spread out all over the country. The pre-season rankings have been all over the place as its harder to gauge other programs that you don't know as well.
So, is anyone sleeping on Kaylie Armitage who transferred from Furman for a graduate year? Bunch of people didn't listen to me about Vera Sjoberg in the outdoor 5k nattys and she finished 2nd. I know talent when I see it.

I think she is one of many potential strong #4/5/6/7 runners for NC State. I can count 6 possibilities real quick.
For NC State insiders - wondering if you’ve heard how Hartman & Gapes are doing in terms of injuries. I know they’ve both had niggles off and on over the past year.
Also, came here to leave this…I have followed Ohio distance running & T&F for YEARS! You will all be pleased with Daniela Scheffler. She is the most talented high school runner I’ve seen come out of Ohio since the early 90s. If you’ve been an NC State for very long you know how many Ohio athletes proceed her at your school. She’ll be an all time Wolfpack great when she’s done in Raleigh.
If you follow their IG they occasionally post pics of workout sessions and the ones that I have seen show Hartman and Gapes mostly off by themselves ie. Gapes posted one to her story with a caption something like "we are sooooo back" Gapes just won NZ 10k championship XC race so I assume she is injury free.
I do follow them, and the other top teams. It can also help with recruit info.
Gapes had to run NZ Crossie Champs to get golden ticket AKA auto qualifier into 2026 World Cross Country champs. This doesn't mean she won't have to pay her way to Tallahassee from Raleigh.
Somehow I missed that Phoebe Anderson previously of Columbia is a grad transfer to NC State? TFRRS has her listed on the Wolfpack's XC roster but she is not on the roster on the NC State team web page. Is she running this fall? If so, the Pack has 3 big time transfers with Anderson, Kaylie Armitage, and Fleur Templier. Anderson was 26th at the XC NC last year.
Phoebe Anderson has one season of Indoor and Outdoor remaining, but no XC eligibility since she ran full seasons in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 for Columbia.

I was wondering about that. For some reason TFRRS has her listed on the NCS XC roster. I also saw a picture of her training with Grace Hartman & Hannah Gapes recently.
Never rely on TFRRS to accurately tell you eligibility for XC, Indoor or Outdoor. There are too many inaccuracies and artifacts, which inevitably ends up burning commentators like TSR every athlete rankings season. If you have a question about an athlete’s eligibility, count seasons. It’s getting even easier now that the COVID era is almost behind us.
How does Napoleon look for the first big race of the fall?
What big race? The Adidas XC Challenge is a low-profile rustbuster, at best.
I might be off here, but I don’t think we’ll see her run again until Nuttycombe (10/17) or ACCs (10/31).
See the “nonsense” part of the handle. I agree with you. Just a joke about how some might respond.
it’s not always easy for an athlete to shift from a summer season like that, but she’s a fine talent with good strength in a strength event, so I could see her contributing at the 4-5 spot for them by the time they hit ACCs. Hope so.
No Hartman listed for NC St on Friday - no surprise. No Rauber, Templier or Armitage - not sure how to take that. Freshmen Engelhardt and Scheffler listed as unattached.

So Scheffler & Engehardt are redshirting? That is a little surprising since both seem that they would have an outside chance of being in the top 7. I'm surprised to see any of their projected top 7 on the list with the possible exception of Gapes since she did not compete in the spring and had a fairly inactive summer with the exception of the NZ XC meet that she won. We probably won't get a good idea of team until the Loyola meet, at the earliest.

Last year they ran almost everyone but in a somewhat controlled fashion. The year before Stephens ran this meet unattached but later in the season of course wore the uniform. Phoebe Anderson is listed as well, unattached of course.

Henes always red shirts (unattached) the freshman in early meets, moving them to varsity later if they merit, or team is in need.
This can actually go as long as regional/nats.
Works perfect as almost all Pack run 5 years and miss a season or two due injury.
How does Napoleon look for the first big race of the fall?
This athlete has been stacking brick upon brick for the past year without hardly any time off. She jumped at the opportunity to fly over to Europe to compete in a Diamond League race just one week after the NCAA Outdoors completed.
The Coach needs to be smart here, and hold her back now for her own good. I wouldn’t pressure to put her in until ACC’s. And I would consider making her a team co-captain, even as a sophomore.
