Colin might be sick or injured but he'll also have to battle to earn a top 7 spot on this loaded team. Aaron will never make the top 7 in a meaningful race for NAU
Alex Phillip, the UNC grad transfer from a D3 school, has been impressive. Why hasn’t he been at a D1 school all along or is he a late bloomer?
yeah, Ohio kid was only a 4:28 1600 and 9:40 3200 in high school, likely off on poor training. Ran at John Carrol out of Cleveland. Multiple time D3 cross and 5k/10k champ. So yeah late bloomer but really his access to training keeps increasing as well. Great run out of him to prove he belongs

Never? You mean never during his college career, or never this year?

NAU posted photos on their instagram and I saw Aaron Sahlman there in Wisconsin. i think he's running the B race unattached.
Anyone know how old Hansen is exactly? I’m wondering if he could set the U.S. junior record for 5k this coming spring. Currently 13:24.26 held by Nico Young.
Rocky Hanson will win an NCAA XC title before one day. monster performance.
Of all the heralded seniors from last year's stellar class he's the only one to have stepped up in XC. In today's race Lex Young- 86th (Leo didn't run. Illness/injury?); Hunter Jones- 133rd; Tyrone Gorze- 138th. I may have missed others, though some are RF, having graduated two years ago. Let's see what happens later in XC and then in track but Hansen may be heading for a stellar career.
Reminder that Tuohy peaked too early last year and fell apart at NCAA outdoors, and her main priority this year is the upcoming US Olympic Trials. She is probably easing into her fitness.
I hate to say it but, 12 seconds back is a huge gap. Her closing split is the same as Chmiel and she is usually significantly faster than her in the last k. I wonder if Tuohy is still dealing with similar issues to last spring, and if they ever really figured that out.
Valby's time is also incredibly fast. When Allie O set the record the course was different (rumors it was shorter?) I think it got redone in like 2018.
Maybe Valby is better at 5000m on the track and in XC. All runners have issues to deal with.
As good as NAU is there is a team better and that’s Oklahoma State. They brought in 2 Kenyan “freshmen” who should be top ten. Alex Meir and Faud Messoudi were top 10 at NCAAs last year. That’s 4 potential top ten! Add Victor Shtsama who was all American last year as their top 5 and there is no team that can compete with that I don’t care what NAU did today. Don’t be surprised in NAU doesn’t win in November.
Shoutout Furman for the 9th place finish, only racing 6 guys. Beat every team in their region after being ranked barely in the top 10 in regional rankings. Go Dins. FOH

He has always showed promise but has really come on in the past few years. He was the '21 & '22 D3 national XC champion as well as winning the 10000 outdoor championship twice along with a 5000 championship. He's also the indoor 3000 3K record holder for D3. He was a good pickup for UNC.

Ken Rooks, the US steeple champ, passed 45 in the last 2k to move from 76->31. Maybe hes just taking it easy after a big summer, but I've got to imagine he'll be further up later in the year.
I know rojo's originally from Texas (Dallas, I think) but he's said that he has adopted Baltimore as his home. He's truly embraced Baltimore lol – would the average student outperform him on a spelling test?

Crazy to see the depth of the NAU women. NAU B team could easily win conference. I bet Smith rests his A squad at conference for regionals and nationals.
