How old is Courtenay, 38, 39 year old? She wins 3 top ultra races in one summer. Her recovery is no issue at her age. What do you think?
Another thing, Salomon lost its #1 star Killian Jornet. They needed another leader right now. So, it happened. There's too much $ to lose. Salomon is the Nike of trail running. Doping is widely accepted. Sad, but true.
I actually have found Salomon to be a bit suss. Where I am, a few of their pros have laid down some truly suss times over the years in our main trail races. Especially for people that haven’t been able to do anything on the global scene.
The race for me that smells fishy is the 2018 UTA22. Lucy Bartholemew came 6th overall in a 22k with 1300m of vert in 1:49. Noting 2 of the 5 people in front her were former Olympian’s.
I don’t know what that time means but compared to what people are doing these days it just sticks out to HUGE degree.
Courtenay though - nah. To me she seems more like Amanda Nunes in women’s MMA. Just a tier above. Plus she is a grinder. It’s not like she’s casually slipping in a 15 min 5k during a race. She didn’t blow anyone away at Zegama. I think she can just grind these long ones out better than everyone else.
