Find it laughable that Shalene was so outspoken about how dopers should be punished and now she has a convicted doper in her group and she is making excuses and continues to support her.
I think this will eventually be the fork that finishes off BTC. Very bad look and not sure why anyone would join that team unless they are a B level runner
Shalane, Shalane, Shalane. Willing to piss away her legacy in the sport for Shelby. I just can't understand the blinders.
There was an argument that if they believed Shelby was wronged, then how could they NOT want to help her?
To that I say, HOW ON EARTH DO YOU STILL BELIEVE SHELBY WAS INNOCENT AND WRONGED???????
Where is the evidence that she was NOT cheating??? and don't come at me with stupid semantics. it wasn't a trace amount, she didn't order pork, even if she did order pork that much nandrolone couldn't have gotten in there, it was synthetic, her androgen levels were higher, nandrolone helps distance runners, her progression was hella suspect.
Like, I'm not even trying to push a narrative. If there is evidence of her innocence, please I beg you show it. Because it's insane that BTC has decided to throw their reputation in the gutter for her. Good for GDS for speaking up.
Just found the relevant language. (This is in the WADA rules, not the World Athletics rule book, for what it’s worth. Either way, World Athletics should be enforcing the WADA rules.)
After reading this, I would certainly interpret this to prohibit Houlihan’s involvement with the team. The thinnest shred of a loophole I could think of would be that BTC is not a federation and therefore doesn’t have to play by the same rules as, say, a USATF-sponsored training camp. I don’t find that argument particularly compelling as BTC is presumably a “member of a member” if they’re fielding teams at USATF and other championships.
International athletes subject to federation support should want no part in this.
77 [Comment to Article 10.14.1: For example, subject to Article 10.14.2 below, Ineligible Athletes cannot participate in a training camp, exhibition or practice organized by their National Federation or a club which is a member of that National Federation or which is funded by a governmental agency.
Re: Shalane, FWIW, she seems more interested in her own pursuits (running marathons, writing cookbooks) than in the whole coaching gig. I wonder if her distractions bother Jerry or any of the athletes she coaches, feeling like they're not her main focus.

We never see it in our own. This is why we believe Kenyans and Russians are dirty. We have no relationship with them. Shalane and Des were both on thyroid meds when they won their WMM. They get a free pass because we like their coaches and know their stories.
The ban is on participation in WA affiliated races and events, not on training, so much as the discomfort of fellow athletes on optics grounds is understandable, what is the moral principle that justifies hurting her training or banning a relationship between two private entities: her and BTC? It’s of course understandable to ban a tainted coach from coaching athletes affiliated with WA.
Not quite. See WA's 10.14 "Status during Ineligibility or Provisional Suspension", and the explaining comment:
Ineligible Athletes cannot participate in a training camp, exhibition or practice organised by their Member or a club that is a member of that Member or that is funded by a governmental agency.
Presumably she may join, say, Frerichs and Schweizer during a casual run in the woods, but she can't train on the track with BTC.
However GDS did not outright say that Houlihan trained with them in an official practice session:
DeBues-Stafford says that during this time, Houlihan has continued to train; she strongly implied (but would not explicitly confirm) that Houlihan has been running with the team occasionally.
Thanks, I stand corrected and my question is moot.
Yet pu$$y a$$ running media outlets like Fast Women and LetUsRun give Shelbo a pass and continue to report on her activity like she’s currently relevant.
Likely brojos are protecting shelby and at the same time disparaging the likes of Jenny Simpson (see other thread) for political maybe financial reasons. Political because Simpson is a star with star power and smarts, and may go into politics as a center-left type. Brojos can't stand for that so they try to bring her into the conversation. And really think there is a financial incentive to try to protect Shelby, be it Russians sewing discord or so other under the table Nike agreement. Shady as hell.

Interesting, never mind what I said. There are two separate search facilities, and one showed what I quoted, and the other (quoted by dullard) shows them as "current."
They are not a current member club at USATF, so seemingly can do what they want.
There's a reason that is hosted under the legacy subdomain. You can find the current club search by going to the usatf.org, click the 'Clubs' link at the top or in the hamburger menu on a phone, scroll halfway down and click the 'Find a Club' link. This is where my earlier screenshot showing that BTC is an current member came from.

My reply was a bit late but you found it anyway. 👍

I don’t think Shalane has blinders.
Clearly Houlihan has something on Shalane. Shalane (and Jerry) know Shelby can throw them under the bus and ruin their reputations.
For those of us who have been following Stafford since she was enrolled at Toronto French School we just want to say you goofs don't know $hite. So just shut the bleep up
