thanks, we see he's on waiting list so why did the guy who posted earlier as "in the know" say Kip was definitely running it and going to have it videotaped? is he trying to sucker us into showing up only to find he's a no-show like he was at Cowtown? Dude hasnt shown his face at a road race since Dec 2010 Charlotte thunderroad?

Actually providing a runner with gear and nutrition during a race may be illegal. My understanding is that one is not allowed to receive aid outside of standard aid stations. I think you can have someone give you a special bottle of fluids but only at official aid stations. I dont know about gear but suspect it is not allowed.

Similarly there have been cases of runners receiving aid from a fellow runner, usually a coach or pacer, during a race. Your coach cannot run next to you and hand you gels and bottles except those obtained at aid stations. Here's a snippet from the VT City marathon info:

2. Competitors competing for prize money may accept nutritional aid (water, other fluids, food, gels, etc) only at one of our “official aid stations”. Accepting nutritional aid from any outside source (family member, friends, un-official front-yard stations) may subject a competitor to forfeiture of prize money and RRCA/USATF awards.

That said, the previous defensive post is meaningless in its content.

That's right. We should pay attention to this. The fact that his wife was there with him, in a car, at multiple points along the course, and at the finish makes it much less likely to find any way he could have moved from point to point along the course. Each time he saw her at random points along the course, but not at photo spots, might have distracted him from knowing when he needed to pop off the course to meet his accomplice.

And lets not forget, there has never in the history of mankind been a spouse that has abetted their other half in something that isn't fully legitimate in nature. Especially not when the reason for it might possibly be related to helping their sick child and/or covering medical expenses.

It's also ridiculous to think that someone who knows that they are 100% innocent and has the witnesses and proof would want to bother clearing their name. It would make much more sense for them to ignore it and let it ruin their reputation for years.

What's kips latest status with the BAA? I know an earlier poster said the Baa was in process of reviewing info on Litton to see if he is going to be in, and every time i look at baa registrants littons on the list so it appears that BAA is going to let kip run the thing.

The folks at BAA have been alerted to the Kip situation - including the peculiarities of his finish in the BAA 5k. My sense is they aren't going to take any action as Kip didn't win any prize money nor or did he misrepresent himself (eg running under a female bib).

They aren't going to concern themselves with it. Unless you win prize money or an age group under fraudulent cutting of the course, they won't do anything.

There was a couple from Cypress, California, John and Suzanne Murphy (ages 61 and 59 respectively) who made a habit of cutting various courses short via use of a nearby automobile. After they posted very fast times at the 1997 Boston marathon (John's was second fastest ever for anyone in his age group), the BAA went back and reviewed the tapes, couldn't find evidence of their having crossed checkpoints and banned both for life. It was because they won age group and cash awards that they got the second look over.

If they were hobby joggers who tottered across in 5 hours, cutting the course along the way, BAA would not have cared one iota. They have your money and that's that.

Actually kip had to have been a toP finisher in his age group. Don't tell me a 48 yr old running 17:17 for 5k wasn't good enough to win something. It was - wasn't it?

The 5k does not have the same cache with BAA as the marathon. Thus, they will look the other way on an age group infraction there.

I can't believe any wife would put up with this crap.

It's rare enough that a spouse even really cares about the other's real running and racing.

It's hard to imagine one getting so involved in the other's cheating and fictional running and racing.

I suppose the race cheating matters relatively little to her.

As long as he is staying faithful to her, running a successful business and not doing anything illegal, she has no complaints.

It doesn't appear his dental practice has suffered negatively as a result.

I don't think the scandal has had much effect on Davison customers. He may try to say he did though in court... Who knows?

Kip did not enter the Zoom Yah! Someone else - possibly a poster on this board - entered his name into the race. He has never had, nor did he ever have, any intentions of registering for or running that race.
