The top 3 should decline theirs spots, then the next 3 and the next 3 and so on also decline until the get to the real top 3. If USATF rules don't allow this, then no one should go to Copenhagen.
Someone would definitely ruin that and try take the offered slot.
Similar occurrence during 2025 men’s race at 10 mile mark. Runners supposed to turn right on North Avenue but pace cars continued straight on Techwood. Lead pack only affected a few seconds because bystanders quickly intervened. Organizers should have learned from this.
USATF posted on their story today they’re still reviewing the situation and trying to come to a solution. It seems like all of the media attention and public outcry of the community could actually be getting somewhere. David Roache is also being super vocal- it’s cool to see a coach be such an advocate.
Yes indeed. I just thought that was utterly priceless. Garmin! When you have to have the best in navigation! Literally just after after the wrong turn.
Were the runners allowed to wear a GPS watch during the race?
So if USATF in their statement stated 'did not meet the requirements' or something like that, then the race as run should therefore not be kept at the U.S. Championships. What am I missing?
I am not good with technology. And I know technology can eff up. But just curious: Can you program Waze or another navigation app to take a certain route? For example, a particular half-marathon course in Atlanta? If so, that might be helpful to the lead vehicle or vehicles next time.
Also, was there a "hierarchy" of lead vehicles? Like was the car leading the bike or vice-versa?
