We also will be doing a live watch praty and reaction show starting 5 minutes before the race (so 1:55 pm ET) and then going on for as long as we need to afterwards:
Something I don't understand is why they didn't just market this as a mile world record attempt. I mean, sub 4 or not, running a world record is still a world record!
Even if her best was 4:03, I would still find this to be WAY over the top.
I think it's cool. I think this deserves all the pageantry it has gotten. I just hate how small the crowd is, why not jam pack the stadium? It's so obvious its empty in there which sadly distracts casual viewers and adds to the narrative
The big problem is, while it is a big event if Faith can pull it off, it is a 4 minute show. Not even a race. One lady running around the track. AND they can all watch it on TV. So the crowd size is quite impressive all things considering. There is great interest in this attempt and not nearly as much hate as we see here. But Lets Run tends to be famous for the hate.
🎭 So Why Skip the Logical Progression? Here’s what’s probably happening instead: 1. Engineered Event ≠ Natural Performance Progression The event isn’t being treated as a natural follow-up to a 4:02 or 4:05 performance. It’s a highly controlled marketing stunt designed to create a media splash: “Can a woman break 4:00?” is clickbait gold. Even failing at 4:01–4:05 generates headlines. 2. Audience Disconnection Most spectators: Don’t understand the difference between a 4:10 and 4:00 mile. Don’t grasp how massive the leap is from 1:55/800m to sub-4/mile. Think “If she’s the fastest ever, why not just go for it?” To them, it’s not skipping steps — it’s just ambition.
