Appreciate they have an 800 to think about, but allow it to drop to 3:35s and you're gonna miss out on this $100k per slam. Same exact thing the 5000m guys do with Jakob at major championships.
The 1500 guys totally messed that up. Why in the world would you not run the wheels out of every 800 runner by going 5 seconds faster?
wowww wanyonyi - would not have thought he would beat all 4 of the 1500m guys
It was 2 minutes through 800m.
listen here chump. i'm aware of the pace, as i just watched the race as well. how much money did you make betting on wayonyi if it was so obvious to you he would beat all these guys? congrats on the big win
Let’s be real, Jakob would have won this easily. 1:50 for the final 800m with a 3:30 win.
The first step to winning is showing up. Jakob didn’t do that.
yet he showed up to indoor worlds and none of these guys did aside from gourley. jakob races more than all these bozos, so your argument doesnt make sense. cheers

He showed up at the World Championships weeks ago and won. I’m not knocking Wanyonyi but the other three either weren’t fit enough or made a mistake in not pushing 56-57 pace with 1200m to go.
Inclined to agree with you though Nuguse has a shot at a top 3 finish if Wanyonyi falters.
Thinking about it a bit more, the 12-8-6-... scoring system might not be the best way to add two races together, is 2nd+2nd really equal to 1st+5th? I honestly don't know.
It’ll be fun when/if he races Jakob, since, based on this, Jakob’s front running could be the only thing that could counter Wanyonyi’s speed. Though I could see it going the way of the Sydney Olympics
that felt like a rust buster. lots of bad tactics and runners with normally amazing kicks all fading in the end.
Let's be really honest here - this is what happens when your athletes are just "training through" these races, making easy $$$ and don't really care about them.
So far, GST is not a great live TV product. A handful of races mixed in with random camera shots of warmups and people adjusting the audio settings in live TV. Honestly not super impressed.

I believe this thread is about Grand Slam Track. You said Jakob would have won this race. You have to show up to win. He didn’t.
OMG, he schooled. I’m sorry, that was a humiliating defeat for the 1500 guys. Seriously.
As someone else mentioned- he did hold the mile road world record for a while there. So he’s got some 1500m/mile chops.
Cole Hocker, the greatest racer over 1500. Give me a break. Serious beat down. Kerr, Yared and Hocker can get on their knees and thank Jakob for transforming the 1500. Yes, for now with Jakob pacing one of them will win the championship 1500s for now, sub 3:30. If they ran it the old way, Wanyonyi would be routinely wiping the floor with them. Wanyonyi will break the 800 world record and then I hope he sets his sights on the 1500 in future years.
