Cheriut has broken Maiyou on the hill--heart break and hes gone!!!!! Looks strong, I can still see Meb, he may make it to second...I had said that the downhills would kill Maiyofrom all the surging, lets hope Meb still has legs for him....Great race.

Maiyo and Cheruiyot are side by side at the front. TV isn't showing the men's race--maddening. The men passed 20 in 1:36:19. Meb is about 24 seconds back. The spotters on the press truck can't even see fourth. The leaders are approaching Heartbreak Hill

Meb reeling in Maiyo. He needs to get on it NOW if he's gonna have any shot at this thing. Culp making a bid to get up in the top 5 (according to OLN).
Still a three woman race last I saw...on commercial now.
Gilmore is going to pop a good one considering his 30km at Ohme (difficult course) in 1:30:48 in February.

At 30K Sell has opened up a 15 sec. gap on Gilmore. 1:33:05.
Lewis Johnson is the worst judge of distance when it comes to marathons. A couple of years ago at Boston - I remember him saying the gap between an early leader and the main field was something like 500m - when he only had a lead of about 15-20 seconds.
I don't recall the exact figures - but that guy has no concept of distance. If Meb was really 800m back - he would be 2.5 minutes behind which I highly doubt.

She's a sprinter. To a sprinter, everything over 200 meters is about half a mile.
