I think we see Sheesley and Ringert go sub 9 at Oregon Relays with the smaller fields, provided they run the 2 mile. Not sure if Helder will or not. He might try to run faster at 800 or 1600 instead. The schedule is maybe not ideal for Boise with the DMR being the same night as the 2 mile, so we could easily see Helder opt for not racing the 2 mile that night. Boise has a great shot to win the DMR.
CDA has it on their schedule, but also Jesuit. Max should at some point given those meets.
It will be interesting to see if Luke Bruce goes for the freshman 2 mile at Oregon Relays. The freshman 2 mile takes 30 guys, so he might be on the cusp unless he runs faster at Boise Relays. Right now, he's #4 (5 if you count Carr) in Idaho for teams that are going. There are 10+ faster in Oregon right now, and about 14 in Washington. I think the cutoff to make it might be around 10:15-10:20. I'm guessing Eagle will run their two freshmen at the 3200 at Boise Relays to try to improve their marks and chances.

What are thoughts on Boise Relays being moved to Mountain View?
Anyone know why this happened?
I'm guessing similar to why states moved to Mountain View, Dona Larsen charging too much?
Boise can set entry fees though, so I don't see why they don't increase prices, especially increasing the "maximum entry fee" so big schools are paying more. Maybe too costly even with this?
Let us know if there is anything I'm not seeing.

I know, the only race being held there this year is the Boise City Meet, and that's only because BK messed up their jump pit when they put in turf.

Isn’t it owned and run by Boise State, the same school that sold its indoor track, the only one in Boise? It wouldn’t surprise me if they aren’t making the track the easiest and best place for HS meets if it isn’t profitable for them.

Trying to make sense of the posted schedule in the word document in athletic.net. Is it accurate to say the steeples start at 9 but everything else doesn’t start until 10am?

I’d guess four have a goal and plausible shot at 4:15 and at least the top 12 (4:25 and under) will all pace themselves through 800 fast enough for a shot at sub 4:20. Should be fun, even with Kemper, Helder, Stockett and Stadtlander opting for other races.

I'm going to guess that it will be Athay. This looks like his best shot to run a fast 1600 before State, where Goss will have more opportunities to. I could see it being a little bit of a chess match between Ringert and Sheesley. I suspect Goss will hang back and try to kick hard.
I doubt Ihmels or Speirs will be competitive for the win. Ringert and Sheesley both closed their 3200s at Arcadia less than 4 seconds slower than what Speirs and Ihmels have run this year at 1600. I would normally include Johnston in there, but he has had what looks like an up and down spring, including losing in all three races at his last meet by 12 seconds (4:51), 1 second (2:02), and 7 seconds (10:09). He has bests this year of 1:59.75, 4:35.53, and 9:59.66.10 -

Mountain View's Rilyn Stevens runs a 4:59
25th in district 3 5A girls 1600 is a 5:27, deeper than ever before. End of last year was 5:30.
Athay pretty much wire to wire to win 1600 in 4:18. 12 boys sub 4:30 on a very warm day.
Anabell Carr (relation to Wyatt/Emry Carr?) wins 800m in 2:17.
9 boys sub 2 in 800m. Stadtlander leads 500, gets passed by Kemper with 200ish to go then makes it back up to win in 1:52. Bryson Blaser coming back from injury 1:58.3.
Ruby Ihmels takes the 3200 with 500ish to go. Wins in 10:51. Courtney Earl also runs 10:58, with Audrey Orhne 11:00.
Athay leads most of the 3200, letting George Spiers take the lead during the last lap (where Spiers proceeds to open up a 25-30m gap), only to hawk him down the last 100. 9:20

Hats off to all the field event participants but since this is a running thread focusing on the running events at State -
Looking ahead with all due respect to all teams on the boys side I think State track comes down to Rocky & Boise. On girls who can knock off Boise?
State track for teams trying to win requires a lot of strategy and that strategy likely will also impact the distance event champions
for individuals trying to win State individual titles also a lot to consider with a compressed schedule
