Now lets try Rogers. High school pr of 2:03. Then ran 1:59 her freshman year of college. Was then stuck around 1:59 to 2:00 until the next three years until she finally ran 1:57 as a college senior. Not exactly what we are looking for. Anyone else.
I will add some more about Mu. Won the indoor US championships and the Milleose games in the 600m as a high school junior. Won the junior Olympics in the 800m. Placed 5th in the US as a high school junior in the 800m. Won multiple AAU events. Etc. Sorry, but no dice.

So I take it you are using Mu as example of a clean athlete? Yet if an East African had run Mu's times as a teen it would be confirmation that they were dirty?
I mostly agree with this. I wouldn't get carried away. Wiley might be able to run 3:59 in a time trial set up. But so far she is far less prone to tactical errors at 800 than 1500. Or rather she has proven strong enough that at 800 she can trail early, run extra distance, and still finish extremely well. That was true in Atlanta and in Bellinzona.
Contrast to the two biggest 1500s or her career to date. Both times she allowed herself to get boxed and shuffled back, forced to do too much on the third lap and early fourth lap to get back into contention. And her kick really suffered as a result.
I'm not really surprised about today. Wiley is very ambitious and says she watches the top pro races. She's raved about Kipyegon. Two weeks ago after the 3:55 semifinal I posted that Wiley would have watched that race and realized she needs to step up her game even both than she previously believed.
Plus you want to uphold the promoter's faith in you. This was huge trust and opportunity. Nobody wants to be invited all the way to Switzerland and then flunk out back in the pack. The extra motivation is like a golfer who overachieves while on sponsor's exemption.
Speaking of Faith, Addy now has a faster 800 PR than her by a few hundreds of a second. I was surprised by her 1:59 and shocked by 1:57. With her speed, she’ll be a favorite in the 1500. Making the team in the 800 will be harder.
Somone cited Mu as an alleged example of an analogous progression. Mu was already an elite junior athlete whose potential was demonstrated early and often and the comparison is extremely weak. As to the East Africans, curious how the main doping apologists will gravitate to denialism in every context no matter what. Well not that curious.
This is a ridiculous thread. There is an elephant in the room but we are not allowed to see it. Yet it is glaringly obvious when half of the posts on the thread are deleted by those who've taken it on themselves to censor the opinions of others they don't like.
Just a reminder that Addy Wiley is in Europe running fast against the best in the world, raising money for cancer research, giving great interviews, testing clean repeatedly, and studying for the fall semester. She is a medal threat in 2024 and 2028, and her stature in the sport will only continue to grow. She will be the face of women’s middle distance running in America for the next decade and a positive ambassador for the sport for the remainder of her life.
Meanwhile, David Woods is in disgraced retirement and Astro has an appointment this afternoon to talk to a professional about how to better handle all of Addy’s success. He will be anonymously famous on letsrun and cheered on by 3-4 people with 11-12 different user names for the remainder of Addy’s career.

So is she not running this fall for Huntington?
How do you know she is being tested? I'm not saying she is or isn't getting tested. Just curious how you know her testing status.
Wiley is doping fraud. It is the most blatant garbage I have ever seen. And it was predictable. I called it months ago. There was no other path forward given the scandal, and she was clearly willing to sacrifice her reputation to "run fast". I said she was not a victim. She even publicly sided with Nick Johnson against his victims. She reminded me of Houlihan, or even Armstrong, who also used cancer as a deflection from doping accusations. Everyone in the sport knows she is cheating, despite all the sad whitewash efforts on this board. And of course the worst dopers in this sport always have their cheering section here, especially a American doper. For every post that called out Houlihan, there were a dozen rationalizing why she was really some magical natural talent. It was surreal.
Remember not only is Wiley a fraud just like her mentor, but she is cheating other athletes. If she has any shame at all she will at least take this freak show to the pros and not sully college running with her pathetic presence.
PS-and spare us the testing clean nonsense. I see a total of 3 tests by USADA. But regardless between the USADA and the AIU Houlihan had well over 150 tests before she slipped up. And none of her training partners were ever caught. Everyone knowledgeable about the subject knows the testing is woefully ineffective and easy to beat. It is an empty talking point.

This board has always grossly failed regarding doping in US distance running. It was Houlihan's cheering section. But the added wrinkle here is that this board allowed itself to be manipulated in a sustained whitewash campaign for this "athlete". At some point there is complicity. I don't care if my posts get autodeleted or disliked. At the end of the day this is a matter of cheating and athletic fraud.

Have a great Tuesday!
you are missing the point here.
most people don’t hate addy. It’s an obviously concerning story and these “supporters” are only enabling it.
Addy is still enjoying Europe today. Most likely entertaining offers of the highest level as the only two people to have ran faster than her while in college are Jenny Simpson at 1500m and Athing Mu at 800m Both have won global gold medals and both signed lucrative long term contracts. A major deal is imminent. Has anyone considered that if anything Astro has to say were true that Addy would not be in Europe racing currently? The real running community loves Addy Wiley and is excited for her future. His narrative is consistently proven false by her current whereabouts and recent race results and videos. Which you can find nearly everywhere, while the opinions of Astro are limited to an anonymous message board and supported by usernames of the same VPN.
Astro, perhaps after Addy raises enough money for cancer research she can help fundraise for the mental help that you need?
If people want to undertand how significantly PEDs affect women's 800m times, just look at the all time list. Discounting the two intersex runners, it is dominated by Soviet and Eastern bloc runners whose times were the result of peds. In 800m doping is king. You give peds to a natural 2:04 800m runner you will get a high 1:50s time.
To be honest, I’m tired of seeing a doped up Faith putting 10 seconds in to a field in a mile. Along with other obvious East Africans. Kipchoge was world champion in the 5000 as a teenager during the height of the EPO era. There is just as much if not more smoke coming from those camps. If track fans are allowed to cheer for these runners, they should be allowed to cheer for Wiley.
The real community. Loll. We know she is trying to dope to success. That was the plan the entire time. The sad reality is that if you have nothing to lose and no shame, you just might be able to dope to success. Give epo and steroids to a good high school runner and you will produce comparable results. Her mentor did it, unless we are still going with the "multisport athlete" excuse. Wiley is just doing it more brazenly than any other US runner. At least the others wait until after college. She started doping in high school.
But keep up the special pleading about how wonderful life is.
