Don’t try to pass a runner in lane 1 on the inside if you don’t want contact.
What if Mu was in lane 3? Look at the picture. It doesn't matter how they got there but with 110 meters to go, Hodgkinson has the inside and is right next to Mu. Nobody is passing. Mu then starts to drift inward over the next 20 meters which isn't allowed.

If she had been in lane 3 then maybe your claim that Athing cut over to shoulder-check Keely would have some merit. As existed in reality though, that was not the case. That Mu did anything "which isn't allowed" is downright laughable. Keep crying while Keely learns from this mistake.

Mu was able to move ahead. As she did so she continued to move across in front of Hodgkinson. It is obvious - and obvious why she did it. It would be a DQ if it directly impeded Hodgkinson but it didn't as the British runner was physically unable to pass her. She lacked the strength. That said - it was not an admirable move by Mu. She was lucky - on two counts - that Hodgkinson had essentially run out of steam.

1.Well, I think the evidence shows that Athing did move to her left and make things “difficult” for Keely. 2. “Grounds for DQ?” No. Why? because far, far more obvious impeding goes on and the IAAF doesn’t seem interested. But, other issues were raised in the comments. 3. Did Athing deliberately impede Keely? 4. Athing says she didn’t even know that Keely was even there when she moved to her ( Athing’s )left. Well, 3 and 4 are clearly linked. Now is it possible ( looking at the shot on the bend ) that Athing didn’t know Keely was there. It seems highly unlikely. Now, look at the blow up photo of Athing and Keely, taken just as they were about to enter the finishing straight. Also, take a close look at Athing. What do we think she’s looking at? ( BTW, click on the wording under the photo to see an enlarged version) Well, Keely’s looking down but Athing is looking slightly upwards and seems to be looking into the distance. Again, what could she be looking at? Well, my guess is the huge screen which would be showing the race. And, to back up the “guess”, with some evidence, just approaching the straight is where athletes have a great chance to check out where the opposition are by checking out the big screen. Keely, and Mary and Weltegi aren’t looking at the screen. Why? Because they know exactly where the opposition is. Circumstantial? Maybe, but it fits the photo evidence. Now, was Athing being truthful when she said that she didn’t know Keely was there when she moved to her left? No! But, then again would we really expect her to say that she deliberately impeded Keely? No, of course not. Now, to why Keely didn’t lodge an official complaint or complain in post-race interviews about Athing’s behaviour. Well, as I’ve said, the IAAF ( with their record of turning a blind eye to impeding) wouldn’t be interested, and if Keely had raised the subject in interviews - without head-on footage- it would just seem like a case of her being a poor loser. Now, unless that head-on footage comes to light, I don’t think that there’s anything more to say on the subject.

And it's not that easy to find the screen and figure out what the video is showing on that screen, while simultaneously focusing on your race, your competitors, and making sure you don't accidentally go over the inside rail while looking in a high left direction.

So you're saying that athletes entering the straight wouldn't look at the "smaller screen" to check out the opposition? And are you saying that even on a smaller screen, Athing couldn't see that Keely was right ay her side? Get real! Great honest!

Another important point that I didn't cover in my " review" is the idea that some posters had that because Athing was running on the outside of lane one, ALL lane one was her God given piece of space. NO! After athletes break in the 800m, lanes don't come into it. Nobody has a lane to themselves, and approaching the final straight, both Athing and Keely were co-existing in lane one, As were Moraa and Weltegi ( just behind them). All that Athing commanded was the space she was taking up. But, she moved to the left ( out of the space she commanded ) and compromised Keely's space.
Hodgkinson is as good as she is ever going to get.She couldn't beat a 75% Mu and she never will.The Kenyan is going to pass her by and she will be reduced to fighting for bronze.
