Potentially Suspicious Runner To Run 836 Miles in 9 Days for "Charity"

I rechecked the email chains I have and they don't give an indication that Terrie was at the start of the London Marathon with Dave. In the email chain, Dave says he drove to the start of the London Marathon the morning of the race but it doesn't indicate if anyone else went with him.

It could be that he never wore the chip, the chip came off BEFORE he crossed the line (it is quite congested at the start and can take up to 30 minutes to reach the start)...

The one thing the photo does appear to show is that he was not wearing the timing chip near the finish and that he does appear to have the timing chip wires attached under the laces of his right trainer.

As to why this is...well only Dave Reading can truly answer this.

I think I can tell Dave shaves his legs from the resolution of the photo, LOL.

I think it is safe to say that Dave most likely never wore the timing chip and that he didn't lose it because we would have heard Dave and Terrie use that excuse instead of the malfunctioning chip excuse.

I think the reason Hugh is taking so long with the London Marathon investigation is that they were overzealous in the past with banning anyone that missed a single timing mat but they are now swinging the complete opposite way:

It looks like Dave is using his Tactical Advance to Battle and judging by the expression on his face its hurting like hell.

Can you nudge Hugh and send him a copy of the shoe. I know he can access photos, but good excuse to give him some more evidence.

Those look like the London ties as i remember they were turquoise. So he could well have set up a scam right from the start by leaving off chip but attaching ties.

Yes, that Lee lad never cheated. Looked suspicious as missed mats, but it was legit after all.

The thing is though Scott claimed he saw the TomTom data. So where is that now? Why would Terrie never show us? If he's sent it to Hugh why wasnt it immediately accepted? It's weeks since Hugh was approached.

What am I supposed to be looking at in the shoe photo, the blue piece of thin cord coming up on the right side of the lace on the right shoe and the nondescript piece coming up on the left side of the laces, also on the right shoe?

If he did have his chip on it would have been to get to the holding bay before the start and then rip it off, but as Scam_Watcheroo said that would have been preplanned and so would the excuse that someone stood on his foot at the start and it came off. Also, the premeditated excuse would have been used straight away when he was queried about no timing mat recording. I wonder now having read the last few posts they wish they had have used that excuse, not that it would have that much difference as he still cheated.

You don't drive to the start of the London Marathon, especially by yourself, he got there some other way, trust me.

Well the latest shoe photos prove one thing beyond doubt, he wasn't wearing a chip, a malfunctioning one or otherwise.

So:

Why cheat?, £5000 English pounds. (which Terrie has accountable receipts for on how it was spent, along with all the other receipts for monies collected, etc).

If you zoom right in on the right shoe you can see the two turquoise cable ties issued by the race, one at the top of his foot with a bit sticking up, and one lower down his foot. They are plastic ties you twist.

He clearly had no intention of wearing it, but couldn't say that, as it's NO CHIP NO TIME.

We don't know whether the chip ever even crossed the finish line. Maybe there was no data AT ALL from the chip and London just manually entered some??

I believe he wore it when going in to his time group corral to await the start in case he got noticed and picked up by an official/helper, (would have had to have had it on him, too risky otherwise). He'd probably already made sure it was inoperative and then just ripped it off and carried it in shorts pocket or somewhere, could've even thrown it away once in his corral.

Timing chip did not work, had confirmation from London Marathon back in May 2016 that the chip did

work. Sent London Marathon all evidence required to prove that Dave run it ALL. They confirmed that start

and finish Times were in put manually as chip did NOT work. Also provided them with GPS watch data

which has been checked. Oh and one last thing I found photos of Dave and London Marathon have

confirmed the photos were at MILE 9!!! These photo'a were not on Dave's photo profile for some reason

but I guess every one makes mistakes a? Which meant that I spent hours and hours looking at thousands

of photo's to find these beauties below. So when are you going to apologise?

Removal of posts from this thread is still going on but appears to be targeting earlier posts. I've followed this thread from the start, but now most of the first ten pages are showing as unread (highlit blue). What have you got to hide Terrie?

As you go into the pens they check your pen number matches, given the people I have heard about using a photocopied number a reasonable visual check would be to see if there is a chip on the shoes.

I've rand VLM a couple of times and have coached many athletes who've ran VLM. I can say that with the sheer volume of runners milling around in the starting areas it is hugely unlikely that any VLM 'helper / official' would have time to notice whether a runner has their timing chip attached. Most runners arrive with bags, casual clothes / outer-layers, go to their allotted starting area (red / blue / green), get changed their and leave their baggage on the lorries (trucks for you US people). The only check that will happen is as follows:

1. Check you are wearing the right coloured bib when entering your starting area.

2. Check assigned starting number (the small single digit number posted on the front of the bib corresponds with your starting corral)

Given that there are few helpers / marshals there and there are so many runners it is highly unlikely that any helper / marshal would spot a runner with a missing timing chip.

But on the off-chance someone did notice - far more sensible to wear it into the pen then discard in the case we are discussing.
