Let's say he's running 9 min/mile pace for a mile, in reality. But it's a curved path, and the Delorme shortens it to 0.9 miles. That would show a slower 10 min/mile pace, not faster.
I'm the one who said "a minute" and the power-saving feature is that it does not maintain continuous GPS.
So it needs to get a new GPS position before each minute's position-transmission.
My guess is the higher speeds are due to GPS positional inaccuracies in between two pings. You can see it bouncing all over the place at their stop points, sometimes, as well, could be maybe a single stray positional ping from inside the RV before turning it off that flags the "max speed".
