Try finishing reading a sentence to understand it. I was making the point that in addition to his championship titles Bekele held the world records over the 5k (and 10k). Ingebrigtsen hasn't and never will. He has only won in slow races over the 5k. When it comes to kicking, Hocker clearly leaves him in the dust - over any distance.
You made this "point": others have won more global 5000m titles than Ingebrigtsen. Only Farah has more.
You sound like someone I would have had as a likely client charged with being drunk while driving.
Personal attacks always show you have nothing.

I would wager there are many on here, myself included for 12 years now, who are actually practicing attorneys. When you say you “qualified” I assume that means you graduated from an acredited law school and subsequently passed the bar? Or is the qualifying procedure different over there?
I graduated from a major law school in my country and passed the bar exams. I was admitted to the bar and am able to practice as a barrister. I chose to work in journalism, as quite a number of others with legal qualifications did and for a number of years was employed by the BBC in news and current affairs and with a specialty in political journalism. I regularly interviewed prime ministers. I am retired from that occupation and have taken on another vocation in the arts. I was a competitive runner in my youth - Lydiard-inspired - but now play tennis for fun and exercise. I also coach.
Good for you. I’ve thought often about leaving the profession and doing something more JD preferred. I don’t particularly enjoy being a lawyer.

The skills are transferable to other areas. Law is not a particularly creative occupation; it can be very technocratic and governed by formulae. I found a career to be more enjoyable that was flexible and people-oriented. If that's what might suit you I would encourage you to look for it.

That shows Farah could outkick anyone he met at whatever pace the race was run. More global golds than Ingebrigtsen - who I would say will never win another global gold in any event. His Achilles weakness unfortunately will see to that. Nor is he likely to improve in his 5k pr set nearly 4 years ago for the same reason.

Thanks. You've just confirmed what I said.
Oh, it’s rather clear you’ve confirmed what he wrote. And to think at first I thought he was joking.
As far as kicks go, Hocker being able to peak and clock 52.6 at the end of a sub 13 is bad news for Jakob. He has never done anything like that. And Hocker did that after having run a prelim. Jakob’s titles do make him an all-timer, but he does not have the best kick. He does have a great long drive from 1200 out. But until he blasts a 51 or 52 in a sub 13, he is not a devestating, sudden change of pace last lap runner. Hocker is a little younger than Jakob, so the next couple of seasons will be interesting to say the least.

You aren't competent to comment on anything except running if you think I have confirmed what the previous poster said about me, as I had said I was a journalist and didn't practice law. But that inability to follow an argument is to be expected here.

That's like saying a 3:59 mile is the same as a 4:03 mile. You should be able close faster on a slower early pace. The difference in pace for Hocker's 12:58 race and Jakob's 13:09-13:16 championship races is quite a bit, so Jakob should be able to close quite a bit faster. But Hocker's last lap was faster than any of Jakob's, and even from 1200 meters out they're not significantly different. Hocker's close was better given the significantly faster early pace.
I already laid out their splits. In Budapest, Jakob closed in 7:35, 4:56, 2:21, 52. That is a much greater change in pace than the marginal difference between the finishing times of 12:58 and 13:11. What really counts is the consistent pressure given in the last half of the race. “12:58” sounds impressive, but context matters. The difference between 12:58 and 13:11 is ~12.8 seconds spread across 12½ laps, almost a second per lap. Meanwhile, Jakob’s Budapest/Paris closes were faster at every checkpoint (last 3k, 2k, 1k) than Hocker’s Tokyo close by a significantly greater margin. For that reason, Jakob's close was better. Anyone who runs at an elite level knows this.
It's hilarious that you think 12:58 and 13:11 is 'marginal'. That's more than a second per lap, which is a massive amount when you're going that fast. I sure hope that Jakob could close faster in the last couple laps when he's 10+ seconds slower in the race when they start kicking.

It doesn't.
He has never done it in a fast race (you missed the last 4 decades, 13:03.39 is not fast anymore). Even more, Farah has never shown he can just do a fast 5000m - no. 58 all-time).

You nailed Armstronglivs, in that he always confirms what people notice about him, then denies it to the hilt. His people are always whiny and indulging in projection. What do you think is the source of his jealousy of Jakob? Is it really just some form of gay rage and frustration as many have suggested? I agree that’s the root of it.

he did close a 12:53 in 53.7-53.8 in his PB, beating Lagat convincingly. I don't like the guy, but I think Mo is criminally underrated on this board.
