Sad to see these youngbloods drinking that haterade. No respect fo' Tommy Allen o' Sean Hartney!! DMR is not wide open!! Aeirc Brodie will return and the Hamdogs will rise again!1!
If we’re talking about sprints, how about the fact that Rowan set the national record running the 4 x 200 like the women do and didn’t have to stay in their lanes the whole race. Surely Bethel and some of the recent Johnnie teams could run that fast with the cut.
Pretty much every D3 Conference or “Regional” meet in the Northeast and Eastern Midwest runs the 4x2 and to my knowledge the only place that both genders don’t run like MIAC women is the MIAC men.
Bold predictions for the women's distance side of the conference. This will be chronological in order of events run at the conference meet so you can track how right my predictions are as the meet goes.
5K: The real question here is will Allison Bode be able to challenge the likely nationals-bound Hannah Preisser. I think Hannah takes it, probably from the gun, may be able to break 17 and secure natty's. The race for third could be a good one to watch.
Mile: I guess I'm looking like a Carleton fan because I think Sophie McManus takes this one too, she won the Tostrud 1k and seems to be rounding into top form. I think Larson second and Sophie Abernathy rounds out the Northfield podium.
800: Isabelle Wyatt likely takes this with ease, probably just does barely enough to win, no need for a national qualifier. I'm picking Lara Erickson for the runner up and Shalom Sulungaine for third.
DMR: Hard to know who is gonna win this because it's hard to know who is running. I don't even know who is running from my school LMAO! Well anyways shot in the dark, depth gives this to the Oles Siri Erickson anchor? Carls probably second cause they fast or whatever Nora Daley anchor. Not sure about third, I'm guessing St. Bens, could be Concordia I guess.
600: Isabelle Wyatt, Allison Hookom, Kyla Nygaard probably podium in some order, I guess that is probably just me being safe. If they all run of course. Wyatt could run the K I guess.
1000: I predict Erickson, Silverstein, and Frolek for this one. This assuming that Wyatt runs the 600 of course, if not she wins this one.
3000: I'm guessing that Preisser takes the Oles out hard and they can't hold on. McManus sneaks around her to take the W. Larson takes third for Carl sweep?

Why is that? It seems silly to stop the meet and have everyone sit down on the infield every race. And it’s not much of a race when you start 80 meters away from your competition.
Sounds like the women should run the same as the men. If the men's race is too dangerous to run in lanes as the MIAC coaches claim, then the women's race (which continues to get faster) is likely not safe either.
To stir the pot more, why do need curbing? I saw at least two elderly officials trip on the curb last week and I don't see any way it is a safety device.

It is not too dangerous, but it does require a bunch more markings on the track, more officials to cover all the exchange zones and more work from the host school (ie. Moving blocks).
Anyone notice the major ball drop by Power for the relays? Entering no seed will put them in the slow heats. Can’t wait to read his email to the conference begging to adjust it.
From looking at entries and what was posted on the list last night before being removed -
Both Goss's (Gosses? Gostriches?)
Calvin/Lars/Gabe all notably not entered, but both coaches like to load their athletes up at conference. Lars will need an extra Zyn to start day 2 if they do that again.
Stencel and Allen are surely a leg as they're only entered in the 1000m. No Kaluza either, but he hasn't raced in a while. No Coffey for the Oles, so he'll likely lead off with maybe Fells and some random Oles. Mac looks to have Olson and Crotteau fresh. May have to double Ihrke or McKee, but likely Ali will run a leg.
Bethel keeping Graber back for the mile leg is an interesting move. Looks like they'll add Kuecker and Hootie to the mix. This is school-record worthy for the Royals and they'll surely challenge the MIAC distance order.
Gusties are harder to figure. I don't think they'll sacrifice Smith's chance to be a double title winner, but they are very hard up for points, so they may put him in a leg. Brauer will definitely have a big role. He's rounding into shape, so depending on how they use him, he can be a big factor. Rupnow and Roehl are definitely on the relay. The more I look at it, this could be the team to beat.
My picks -
I'll give the slight edge to Concordia due to the dominant miler in Goss.
Concordia, Gustavus, St. Olaf or Bethel. Coffey also probably earns the nod over Graber if he doesn't get confused by Bethel fans holding up Cavinder twin pictures.
Will they being checking shoes for the conference meet? Saw the thread about runners in a different conference getting DQed. Who checks them? Will it be Power and the Concordia coach? I don’t see that going well for either of them.
I don't know why you all are complaining about a coach following the rules for the sport, they are there for a reason and aren't exactly supposed to be flexible. They are there so you don't get disqualified for a stupid reason. If you get disqualified for breaking a rule, you or your coach are the dumb ones who can't read a little rulebook.

The meet host should check 10% of the field. That's what they did in Boston and Whitewater. If I'm one of the Carleton women, Mo, Gabe, or the Duluth boys I want them to check so nobody can challenge my performances. The sad part is it will likely impact someone that won't score that brought the wrong trainers or their coach didn't share the rules with them.
Not new info. Are we certain St. John's doesn't have a curb?
Curb ARTICLE 15. The structure bordering the inside lane of the track. Note: As of January 1, 2021, all newly constructed or resurfaced tracks shall be surveyed for a curb and shall have a regulation curb in place for competition. (See Rule 10-1.6.
Technically, it's Rule 2-1.6; 10-1.6 is for outdoor tracks. Here's Rule 2-1.6: "For world, American and NCAA championship records, a regulation curb must be in place. For championship qualifying on a track surveyed for a curb, a regulation curb must be in place. For records and all championship qualifying on a track surveyed for no curb, the inside white line must be marked additionally with cones. As of December 1, 2018, all newly constructed or resurfaced tracks shall be surveyed for a curb and shall have a regulation curb in place for competition."
I wondered if there were wiggle room in the word "resurfaced." If there's no wiggle room, it's interesting that no curb was installed when SJU resurfaced the track. Wonder what the thought process was. Maybe looking back at how many championship or record marks were set (assume few), it wasn't worth the cost (assume high)? Some other reason?
Looking at Instagram photos from the last couple weeks, there's no curb.
