Why is Tuohy even mentioned in this thread? Why are you even comparing WIley (mid distance) runner vs Tuohy (XC/5000m ) runner? Why do you feel the need to put down another young promising female? This is part of what I mean by feeling icky with these threads. It's like there's some kind of cult or something. Like Taylor Swift's Swifties. Really strange imo.
Everyone kept saying to me I was overreacting. But I knew what I was looking at. It is always a certain type. I said they would triple down instead of trying to lower the profile and now we are on an outright Houlihanesque adventure. And the train will not stop. I see 1:56 coming. Maybe 1:55. f you have the will and nothing to lose....Too bad other 800m US hopefuls. You know the drill. Cannot say anything to protest. Just have to suck it up.

OK so you were able to see that she would improve? Wow! A teenage runner is improving. It doesn’t always happen but not sure this makes you Nostradumbass, or does it?

Maybe because Wiley is now also a lot better than Tuohy at XC and the 5000?

There isn't any evidence of that but even if there were-- I thought this thread was about Wiley not Tuohy. Tuohy didn't run an 800m. I don't understand the vitriol about someone not even mentioned by the OP.
Athing Mu HS 800 PR: vs. HS runners 2:03.98 | vs. Pros 2:01.17
First season after graduating HS: 1:55.07 & Olympic Gold Medal
Athing Mu HS 400 PR: 51.98
First season after graduating HS: 49.57 NCAA Champion and Collegiate Record
That's correct. Mu and Wiley are the only 2 female high school runners in history who have had such a massive drop in their PR the year after they graduated from high school.
So either Wiley is one of the greatest 800 talents in history, or .................

Let’s assume, in the absence of a failed a drug test, that Wiley’s 1:57 was the result of physiological adaptations stemming from a complex of factors, none of which are “doping.” Can we list or outline some such factors?
Altitude training (or use of an altitude tent) Double thresholds Deep, Gebrhiwet-style recovery (a lot of sleep) Supplemental aquatic work (swimming, aqua-jogging, underwater treadmill miles) Plyometrics Consistent training with elite athletes at or above her level ???

You forgot the most critical of all: facing actual competition
Please don't look over the fact Athing Mu and Raevyn Rogers had near identical trajectory and surely they made a huge jump for the same reason; they were finally competing against those that could push them
