Valby's 15:20 was worth 15:05 AT LEAST. Her 1st 3k was 9:23 - right around 5:00 pace which is 15:37 pace. She then RIPPED the last 2k, which indicates insane fitness. Her last 5 laps:
1:12.69 - 1:11.90 - 1:11.94 - 1:10.60 - 1:09.88 - Her last 1600 was 4:44.
I’ll just post the race here. Kelati clearly worked for it but it was definitely not an all out race. Most of the reason we haven’t seen faster times is because times don’t really matter in cross country. Just calm down and be happy that Tuohy has quality competition. It’s good for the sport.
Well I saw 19:02 but still impressive. I know that Rose Park golf course well that she ran that on, and flat as a pancake, but yes, definitely at altitude and with refinery exhaust in the air.
Those numbers thrown down by valby sets up an interesting cross country championship between her and tuohy if both stay healthy because the way tuohy won nuttycomb still having enough energy to scream at her teammate kelsey cheering to help her finish strong and physically throwing kelsey around in celebration tells me tuohy had alot left in the tank!💪 #staytuned
An anonymous poster claims that the brightest young American is doping and the former American record holder was doping. He deems Solinsky not worthy to coach even though the AD at a high level college with a high level athletics program hired him. Sounds like Astro is reliable.
I have followed these boards for several years, and I have found Astro to be pretty knowledgeable. If this is true, it is depressing and makes NCAA women's running a lot less interesting.
I am not a fan at all of trans women (males) in women's sports, but I would rather see a 6ft 4 burly former dude run Touhy down in the homestretch and take the title than a doped female. That would just suck. Any college runner who would dope to win is pretty pathetic. I hope Astro is wrong, but the circumstances do raise suspicion. Ugh.
Obsessed? Guilty as charge. My mind is blown. How The Hell Is A Guy Directly Connected To Dr Brown And Salazar Allowed To Coach In College? And then one of his athletes pops off.
Solinksy isn’t connected to Salazar. He’s connected to Salazar’s rival. Honestly I considered your argument when you first posted, but now it’s clear that you’re more interested in defaming Valby than getting the facts right.

The clock on the screen is wrong. Official results give Kelati 18:58.7. Kelati also has a 19:11 and 19:15. This is all BEFORE supershoes.

Kelati was 23 at the time and had also been running fast for a few prior XC seasons by then. Her progression strong but was more typical. Still, a super fast time.
H'm. Jerry was hired to replace Salazar at NOP and became the coach of BTC. Nike, allgrdly through Salazar's input, pressured Jerry to send his athletes, including Solinsky, to Dr. Brown, which he did. Jerry subsequently claims in self-exonerating terms, that he was allegedly skeptical of Brown but BTC would continue to be involved in doping scandals under his watch. While you seem to imagine that all these things are separable, it is all taking place under the Nike umbrella and the supposed distinction betwen Salazar's athletes and Jerry's is illusory.

I think solinsky was dirty and Jerry is playing dumb. A lot of NOP and BTC athletes have/had gray-area careers. I think some amount of microdosing is happening in the NCAA. But I’m not manically posting about a 20yo college athlete alleging she’s doping because she ran a fast 6k.

This whole issue makes the NCAA look bad. The fact that there's no credible testing of athletes is like "blissful ignorance" on their part. As someone said, if there's a question raised, it's up to the shools to test - like they're going to bust their star athlete. That policy may have been put in place in a different era where integrity still mattered, but the conflict of interest is obvious.
Bottom line to me is the NCAA doesn't really care about women's sports (did he really say that?) To have a man swimming in female competitions is beyond absurd and shows no regard for female athletes. We're supposed to accept it.
It's not just the NCAA, the NFL allowed the players to take a knee to the American flag and the coaches all fell in line. They could have stopped it easily, but deals were made and so were compromises. It was to the NFL's detriment, but they did it anyway (!) China holds sway over the NBA. Hollywood is controlled, the music industry too. The rock'n'roll phenomenon and the big band era all came from the people. Those were grassroots. Now the lowest common denominator is shoveled by corporations. Country music is still hanging on.
There's my rant. Valby's outrageous success coming off a foot injury where she could only do minimum training defies reason.
Not clear why there are so many down votes on this. They are 18 and older, so they are men and women. Not hard to understand. On a somewhat related point, I also think the women should be running the same distance as the men. They’ve been running the olympic marathon for almost 40 years, it’s time that the NCAA appreciates that women are at least as tough as the men. Too many insecure men and boys on this message board and making decisions in the NCAA.
