Forgiving the debt perpetuates the scam tho. If he were to forgive the debt at the expense of the colleges, that would be just dandy. But they already got paid. Instead this policy is sticking it to all the tax payers, which includes a lot of rubes who made sacrifices to avoid loans or avoided college altogether because of the cost. Now those rubes get to fund other peoples college degrees LOL. And now the egg slathered on the faces of these mostly blue collar jabroni taxpayers is substantial. Unclear how this may affect democrats in upcoming elections. BTW I voted for Biden (because that other guy was a fascist).
Is it forgiving student loan debt or “transferring” loan debt to people who didn’t borrow it and who didn’t receive a college education?
Or… What about kids who worked hard, saved and scrimped to pay the loans off themselves and now have to pay off the debt of those who didn’t make those same choices. How is this fair at all??
Now society gets to pay for the student loans and the inflation that will ultimately result with this $300,000,000,000 spend.
If the US is the "greatest" and wealthiest country in the world how is it that student debt is going to somehow break the bank? Or inflation? But you are good at resenting one another. That's pretty much all the Republican Party stands for now. (And faux Democrats here).
You are likely the biggest misanthrope on LetsRun. Please continue to lecture others about "resenting one another."
I'm sorry but I'm just a hobby-jogger on that front. You haven't read the stream of abuse levelled regularly by one poster at another here. My own special antipathy is reserved for bigots of every stripe. There are plenty to go around. And of course that includes Trump and his cult.

Did your boyfriend leave you for an American?
If the US was as useless as New Zealand the world would be a communist hell hole right now.
The "communist hellhole" that is NZ is ranked second amongst the world's democracies. The US is meanwhile at 26th and in free-fall. Mainly because of people like you.

There's so many lenses in which we can view this issue. What it really comes down to is that millennials who racked up student loan debt to have the "college experience" changed their tunes once it was time to pay the piper and rather than man up and finally make that sacrifice they deferred at 18, they collectivized to whine the topic into the national discourse until some Democrat looking to buy votes capitalized on it. Disgusting.
Said without a trace of irony. As I said - you are good at resenting one another.
Loan forgiveness is very much a Democratic position to hold, so you are clearly a non-Democrat trolling here. Loan indebtedness is at a staggering level, and is an enormous problem both individually and collectively, the kind of thing that crashes people's futures and can even crash the economy, given just how big it is. College has become too expensive and should instead (public college) be heavily subsidized, as in Europe, because it is fundamental to our economy and to the success of individuals--even longevity. Free public college should be next. You think this harms those who paid their loans. I paid my loans and I don't object to this program in any way. It helps everyone by aiding the economy. Frankly, the level of debt only served the interests of banks and credit card companies. Try raising a family when college debt takes up much of your salary.
If college debt is so 'bad' why are people lining up to take it on? If college debt is so bad we need to 'forgive' (no, actually TRANSFER to someone else) $10k per recipient then why are we still making those loans? Shouldn't we stop making the loans in the first place?

You missed the obvious. People take out loans because they don't have the cash or income to pay. The problem is the enormous and rising cost of tertiary education. If students don't take out loans they don't get the higher education. The country needs people with higher education - or it becomes another "sh*thole country".
Joe you really are blowing it here. Canceling $10,000 worth of student debt per borrower? You just look silly. This is the type of thing which encourages irresponsibility. You blew it Joe.
But republican presidents have slashed taxes on the wealthiest in our country. forgiven millions to the rich .. PPP Loans... Please 10K for middle class school costs?? It will not break the bank... How much for those fighter jets??? 100 million a plane?? Keep voting for Republicans....
How quickly Republicans hate something that benefits real people. It’s like their idea of policy is based on jealousy and not outcomes.
This is not a "republican hates everything democrat" thing. Besides the potential negative impact on inflation, it's simply not fair to bail out people who made lousy financial decisions while doing nothing for people who choose not to take on debt they couldn't afford to repay.
TBH, if this was fair, people without college debt should get a check equal to the average of the individual debt being wiped out. According to a quick google search that average is somewhere between $28K and $32K. So, for those of us not carrying college debt, we should get a check for $30K. People who get their debt wiped away get nothing.

The government... giving tax money BACK to tax payers?? And conservatives talking about going to court to stop this! Can't really make it up at this point.

Right, jealousy. That’s exactly what I said. Your biggest hangup is “fairness”, right?
A Tuesday CBS News report acknowledged that President Biden's expected plan to cancel some student debt would only benefit some, while costing big money.
