Winner of the contest will receive special arrangements to come up with new slogan to replace “Butter My Bread”, “Come On Now”, or “Not Feelin’ It”.
I think Seth should run with the pacers for the lead women through at least ten miles (presuming they are on 2:19-2:20 pace). If he has the fitness for an OTQ, he can pick it up and see what happens. If he is not in OTQ shape, maybe he can hold on for a PR.
My guess is 2:19:43.
This appears to be his strategy. Just saw him with the large group of men behind the top women. About 10k in.
At this point the splits he cited before are almost pointless until/if he blows up - only a moran wouldnt sit at the back of the group for the sake of 10 seconds.
Although it would be absolutely peak SJD to sit 10 seconds off the front of a 20 person group because he said it on IG stories.
Seth already fading. 1:06 through 20K. Matt and Nick 1:05 mid. He’s 40 seconds behind and slowing down slightly. I think he will hang on for 20-25 and probably fade more on 25-30. Not sure what’s going to happen after 30.
Unfortunately for him, he needs to change the way he trains. It’s a proven fact by this point.
Honestly if he goes sub 2:20 I’ll call this a success.
its a good stepping stone to run OTQ in the future. If you look at all the marathons he run, he either blew up (Amsterdam and NYC) or faded quite a lot (First NYC). He never raced them really good.
