Yup. I first noted Bayshore 2008 as being suspicious back on 1/16/11 (bottom of p. 48). As well as Bayshore 2007 (2:55). Here's what I posted the next day (on p. 54):

Is 1:15 a questionably long delay? For the 2007 Bayshore race, it means he started back with 4 and 5 hr finishers. And on another post I wrote on p. 54, I showed that prior to 2006, even in races with FAR more participants (>6700 finishers, for example, in the 2005 Crim 10M), he started only 13 sec back. So in Kip's case, I would say yes.

Mentioned it way back then, but worth mentioning here for newer readers: Kip's questionable race habits go back a long ways ... back to 2006. (Everything prior to then looks fine.)

Note that all photos of Kip are in the 2nd half of the race, you can tell by the water. It is an out and back course heading North up the peninsula on the East shore.

Kip had to pass me, doing the math it would've been around mile 4. I don't recall noticing Kip pass me but that is not definitive.

Mr. Gutierrez is possibly key. Doing the math shows Kip had to pass him in the 1st half and then he had to pass Kip back in the 2nd half. The photos show Mr. Gutierrez slightly ahead of Kip in the 2nd half. He would possibly remember this.

Agreed, we could easily apply his logic to the entire internet. Trying to figure out the motivations of the people or possibly one person who has come up with this argument all the way through this thread, I am forced to conclude that the only possible reason is that they are cheats themselves and don't find this thread comfortable reading.

The advice for them to "stop reading it then" seems sound.

I've got your report: a friend & I worked w/the race director to get him DQ'd. We showed him a pic of Kip near the finish line w/not a drop of sweat on his shirt - this after a 10 km run over a very difficult course in late June. The RD wrote Kip for an explanation & Kip never replied. The course would be VERY easy to cheat on. THIS RD had the moxie to DQ Dr Litton.

I am new to the thread and must admit I am perplexed. I understand maybe cutting a marathon. Its not the first or the last time it will happen. Realistically it probably does every time a marathon is held in America.

But I am vexed that he would travel across the country to do so. And then he does it for other distances, even as short as a 5k. And then to hear he bikes and runs daily. why not just run the full 3 miles?

It is obviously some form of kleptomania, which is maybe some way to relieve stress in his job. Which is odd that he would risk his reputation as well.

I bet he is probably on this thread as well. Probably even the "Study of K. Lipton" guy who has the blog.

If you see Plains Runner this weekend, he'll know who I am (based on my handle). I was one of the founding members of the Church of the Blue Dome running club in Billings. I do miss the Montana Cup...and the Big Sky Distance Project. Have fun.

Here's another unusual finding at Jacksonville 2006. The splits are possibly believable. I have run this one twice. Only mats at halfway and sometimes at 20 miles. Easy to cut if you wanted to. Not really marshalled. You run most of it very spread out if you are reasonably fast. The unusual finding again is the gap between gun and chip time. The marathon there is small and there is no reason for a competitor wait in the back. Two minutes even seems excessive for the last runner to wait. Here's the age group standings. His first half must really have been 1:24 which would have been probably around a pr at that time if he was waiting 2 min to start:

It gives a nice visual of how Kip probably only did the first 1/2 mile and the last 3/4 mile of the course. Most people park between those two points, so Kip wouldn't even have to get creative on stashing his change of clothes... he could have just walked to his car.
