1st Salazar has his athletes wearing cooling vests before races and now he somehow gets them into the races in a way? That's cheating.

It was previously posted in this thread. How could you not know something that has been in place for years. No coaches helping athletes during a competition. How hard is that for you to understand.

From the rules book.

Any athlete giving or receiving assistance from within the competition area during an event shall be warned by the Referee and advised that, if there is any repetition, he will be disqualified from that event.

Note: The competition area, which normally also has a physical barrier, is defined for this purpose as the area where the competition is being staged and which has an access restricted to the competing athletes and personnel authorised in accordance with the relevant Rules and Regulations.

Rupp or Salazar was quoted to this effect.

So you morons think an aid station where you get something you ingest is okay, but have a fit over a hat?!

A good reminder of why my visits here have gone from hourly to Olympic/Nationals week.

It is not about a hat. It is about a special chilled hat, evidently requiring chilling until just before it is handed to an athlete. Only one athlete was given special assistance like this during the marathon.

You think this gel stayed cool during the time it was collected to hand out to aid stations, driven out, set on tables (maybe in bag/under table to keep dry?) and then 90 minutes into the race?

I know you hate Nike and Salazar and by extension Rupp, but this whole thread is foolish.

During the race there was a special USA section at the aid stations marked with a US flag. It section was near the end of the aid station. There was someone there holding a hat that was extended out for Rupp to grab. The person left the aid section immediately afterwards, no similar aid was given to the other two US runners.

No hat, a custom hat. Chilled to the last moment. Handed out only to Rupp.

Mr. Katz needs to provide something confirming what exactly he approved. Did he approve a special cooler? Did he approve a special aid station worker to give out the special hats only to Rupp? Did he approve use if ice or gel, which? Did he tell every other runner they were allowed to do the same as Rupp was?

Seems to me that Katz screwed up big time. Should have been specific with Salazar. Should have allowed everyone the same treatment. Salazar took advantage of Katz. Katz's error for letting that occur.

Special Treatment is forbidden during a race while it is in progress. You never ran track or XC did you?

What's the point of that Badwater info, FFS Rupp's hardly going to run the marathon in a cooling vest, and who cares what Badwater and ultra idiots think should be allowed or not.
