    You have thousands of mediocre athletes in high school that break 5.

    Bolt is much better than a mediocre HS runner.

    This is exactly right.

    I was a jumper sprinter. I ran 46 seconds for the 400 and wasn't an endurance guy

    I ran 5:30 for the mile at 10 years old.

    Bolt would have no problems breaking 5 minutes. Give him a week to decide he wants to, and 2 more to find a pair of shoes.

    Who cares if Bolt can run 5 minutes for a mile... can Rupp run under 10 seconds for 100m. This makes about as much since as discussing Bolt, Get a life,

    I'm in the camp that believes Bolt cannot do this now, but if given the time and incentive he'd be able to. But it'd be very hard.

    The only thing I am absolutely sure of is that it would not be "very hard" if he really wanted to. Three months of training would be an exaggeration. I know lazy low-10 guys who run (half-assedly) 2:0x in 800 TTs off preseason sprint training.
