You missed the point. Like most employers, this one doesn't want druggies working for them. The op was actively looking for a job, oblivious to the possibility of having to submit to a drug test. We're passing judgment on his lack of judgment and common sense.
I would smoke now and then too, but in my profession, I deal with pharma companies who sometimes insist on drug screening for third party employees providing services for them. My better sense has convinced me that my career and livelihood are more important than doing bongs

I see your point, but drug screening is, in some ways, completely silly and arbitrary. Drink four beers a night? You pass the occasional drug screen and it's no big deal. Smoke a bowl once a week? You fail the test and are fired. You know which guy I'd want working for me? The one that does the best job. If extracurricular activities don't interfere with your ability to bring value to the company, a person can put LSD dosed tampons up their a$$ for all I care.
Now as for the OP knowingly using weed while looking for a job: well, that's not the brightest decision in the history of humanity given the current corporate zeitgeist. I just find the whole idea that through legality society can say this chemical is okay to alter consciousness (even in the privacy of your own home), but this one is not. If an invidivual cannot have sovereignty over their own consciousness, what can they have sovereignty over? It's not as if moderate cannabis use within private confines victimizes anyone.
