Leo is always an up and down runner. And since 2006 he has placed in the top 3 in the 1500M at the US championships. Something even your precious Nick hasn't done. he may well suck this year, but you should treat the both the same.

I didn't "go off on him". Symmonds was awful in Shanghai. Awful. We said he's clutch and not to rule him out. I'd say exactly the same thing about Leo.

I'm just for the most part describing what happens here. Our analysis is comign later. I'm more worried about Leo than Nick but Leo has done stuff like this in the past.

Big winners on the night.

Men:

Hassan Mead (won 1500 as a 10k guy). Eric Jenkins (blew doors off in 5k), Robby Andrews (didn't run amazing but won his heat and benefits greatly from Manzano and wheating not impressing).

Women: Kate Grace. She's running great now. US leader at 800 dominated her 1500 heat.

ANDREA SECCAFIEN - don't know much about Canadians but i assume she's going to the Olympics after her 5k win but who knows with Canada. They often make you do something stupid.

Those that flopped - Leo Manzano for sure.

Not sure who else.

Hasay was bad but she at least was going on PR pace for a good while.

Symmonds is 32. Leo is 32 in September. They've had their careers; whatever happens, they can't be losers. Who (other than Lagat) makes a U.S 800 or 1500 team at age 32 and up? Probably happened, but can't think of one offhand.

Johnny Gray made 1996 Olympic 800m team at age 36 (finished 7th at Olympics)

Off the top of my head, Spivey '92 1500 at age 32. Then made the team in '96 at 5000.

Another good example. But, still, we're going back a couple of decades. And again a true elite (3:31 PB in the pre-EPO era).

Nick Willis thinks a lot of guys retired back in the day as there was less money. Now that people are pros, they may last longer.

We've found another big winner.

Natosha Rogers, who was second at the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 10,000 (she didn’t go to London as she didn’t have the standard) ran her best race in four years, taking fifth in 15:28.56. That’s a huge improvement given she only ran 15:58 at Payton Jordan three weeks ago. Could she be a player at the Trials?
