Anyone with a brain knew that Myers had a perfect race at the Australian Champs and today when he pushed too early it ended up breaking him.
Lol, Aus Champs was hardly a perfect race. He simply had a first peak for the Champs and now is at the end of a big block with a second peak aiming for Commonwealth Games. No one broke today, especially in the top 3. Nuguse is a great runner in good form.
Gressier and especially Almgren were pretty awful.
Well, maybe shows you can't stay away from 1500 a long time with only 5000m/ 10000m and the road circus and still expect to run a very fast 1500..... 🤔🧙♂️
True but almgren ran very fast over 3k this year, that time should translate to 3.30/32 at worst, probably after that race and the dnf in 5k he hit a wall, guess he won't be a factor in olso, if I were him i would rest and skip the race
Mondo's world record is 6.31 but he couldn't clear 6.00 today. They're humans not robots.
Are you comparing Kenneth Rooks to Mondo Duplantis?!
Since Paris in 2024, Mondo has won every meet he's entered until today, won a world outdoor and world indoor title and broke the WR six times.
I think we can give Mondo one bad day - you might want to look at KR's performances over the last 18 months before getting into this debate
The point is human performance can vary. Someone like Rooks can have a really great day while peaking for the Olympics and have all the stars align for him (including one of the favorites suffer a brutal fall), allowing him to place higher than most of us thought possible. Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, someone who is nearly automatic like Mondo can uncharacteristically be way off.
You're only looking at performances. You don't know what's going on with Rooks behind the scenes. You just sit at your coffee shop and judge him from a position of ignorance. To his credit, he won a third straight US title last year.

I think you are right in that, but you know he is already contracted for the race and need to race for the money... 😉 And who knows , little rest and maybe another great performance....

Not necessarily, he might just be not used to that pace and used that as a tune-up

Yeah right, not like today where he had a pacemaker to 900m and actually ended up running slower. Listen, I’m not trying to be mean but people saying that he is easily in 3:27 shape are spitting in Jakob’s face for how long it took him to get there.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think anyone at the moment is "easily in 3:27 shape". However, he was clearly in a lot better than 3:29 high shape a couple of months ago. How good? We will never know, that's part of the beauty of athletics. Let's hope he gets back to that shape or better with his second season peak in the coming weeks and we can see how close he gets to 3:27 in an elite, world class race.
