I don't really follow ultras closely but when I think of the greatest of all time I think of Yiannis, Killian, Courtney so it kind of makes sense that she'd need to knock them down a peg or two to even be in the conversation. Perhaps she's realising that her records are quite beatable and she's in a castle made of sand at the moment.
What bothers me the most is Camille messing with Des’s page. Des is a totally different class of runner than Camille. Des is a two time Olympian, finished 7th at the 2016 Olympics, won Boston, and finished top 3 two other times at World Marathon Majors. Camille has a 2:37 marathon PR. She’s not good enough to lace Des’s running shoes.
So, I think the issue isn't just the Wikipedia, but also the scathing reports of her general behavior from others inside the sport.
I'm like you: I saw her posts as jaguar1 and thought it was cool that such an elite ultrarunner posted here. I don't remember her posts as being particularly controversial, certainly nothing like many of the posters on here...
More recently I've heard negative rumblings around Herron, but nothing concrete enough to take seriously since you never know how much to trust the source of anonymous posts. (e.g. sometimes people criticise Sage Canaday, and by all appearances he is a gem of a person).
But the reaction to this incident is pretty damning. Imagine if instead the reaction from the ultra community was "Wow, that doesn't sound like Camille at all. She's such a nice person, and a pillar of our community". I think the reaction would be very different, less "terrible person" and more "I hope she's ok".
It's not just that the Wikipedia editing shows a sustained (years-long!) narcissism, selfishness, and pettiness, but that this seems entirely consistent with what appears to be her modus operandi. Going after performances that beat hers to try to get them thrown out on technicalities? Some of the stories on this thread? That quote from Trishul Cherns? These paint a very bad picture.
Individually, maybe you could justify each of these behaviors. Perhaps she's extremely fastidious about rules and would hold her own performances to the same standard? Well, her Wikipedia behavior suggests something very different. Perhaps the anonymous stories on this thread are wrong or embellished? Well, it would be an awfully big coincidence given how many there are, and how well it meshes with her Wikipedia behavior. And the Wikipedia edting alone I could imagine being a deep, obsessive sickness in one isolated area of her mental health...if it didn't match so well with everything else we've learned over the past couple days.
I take your point that it's best not to jump to conclusions. But this shouldn't be a way to excuse bad behavior; if everyone stands down, then the story becomes old news, and Herron's bad behavior can continue. I do commit to keeping an open mind: if it later comes out that this was all a concerted frame-job (extremely unlikely), I commit to completely revising my opinion of Herron. And (more plausibly), if we learn more about the mental illness and struggles which have led Herron to this point, I will (and do) have sympathy for her--certainly, she seems profoundly unhappy. To the extent that she can change what seem to be core behaviors, I don't meant to permanently shun her.
But from all reports, Herron has directly and indirectly harmed many people in the ultrarunning community, continues to do so, and has no intention of stopping (unless this scandal has caused some introspection). This is the key revelation, and we shouldn't overlook it in service of some sort of all-purpose neutrality.
Actually no, I doubt very many people care about wiki’s policies really. It was the mean spiritedness, self promotion at all costs, intentionally undermining rules on a website but then saying other didn’t follow rules in an event, tearing down fellow competitors, etc that is what this really is about.

I’ve seen a lot more mean spiritedness from Randos in this thread than anything I can find on Wikipedia or elsewhere. Letsrun cancel mob it seems. I don’t blame someone for wanting to update their Wikipedia page.
Why are you actively discounting the Canadian Running article as a source that also included Herron's IP addresses, as well as quotes about her character from leadership in her events? You said you were waiting for Citius magazine to do a story bc THEY are unbiased? Give me a break. I laughed aloud when i read that.
Speaking of the confirmation bias. Maybe take a moment and check into your beliefs.
Needs a lot of explaining and i will be emailing lululemon asking them their own thoughts so its not brushed under the carpet, until she makes a proper statement
Lol. I love how LRC "hates" cancel culture until they get a chance to cancel someone. Then they are just like everyone else.
At the end of the day removing "fluff" from "competitors" wiki pages is pretty gross. However the posters here are more mad about this than 8 more Kenyan dopers being banned or Shelby returning to competition. Maybe time to get some perspective.
Love how LRC is able to label an entire country as dopers but woe betide anyone asking a multi million dollar company to comment on the reprehensible actions of someone and not being allowed a free pass and suddenly one white knight wants to allow it.
Hmm I wonder who doesn't want noise for their sponsor??
It's sh*ty behaviour if true and needs dealing with.
Ironically, Wikipedia's rules have saved her a little embarrassment. Someone originally added a section titled "Wikipedia Controversy" to her page ... but a Wiki editor took it down because it violated one of their rules.
She’s the only ultra runner I know that cried and complained enough to get her ultrasignup page blank. Search it. She has no results there because she’s a big baby and thought that would contradict her self given status as “worlds greatest ultra runner”.
What I heard was that she threatened to sue them so they had no choice but to take it down. This is just hearsay but knowing that she threatens to sue everyone who doesn't agree with her makes me believe it.
We have all the information. You seem to be deliberately obtuse about that part. What's not to understand? She kept making changes, the editors didn't allow them, she was warned, she kept trying to make changes, finally got banned, then started up again the same day with a new account. And was making changes to others' bios to remove the kind of stuff she was adding to her own. Like I keep saying, not the worst thing in the world but super poor form, and honestly just pathetic and petty behavior from an elite athlete.
What punishment? Being publicly mocked for being petty and pathetic? KD got mocked for his burner accounts and deserved it, and of course it blew over. Camille is getting mocked and deserves it, and this too will probably blow over after a few days. But should her sponsors not want to be associated with pathetic and petty behavior then that's their call.
The information missing is her side of the story and whether it was her or her husband behind the accounts.
It was either her changing Wikipedia which means she is slime or her husband changing Wikipedia means he is slime and she needs to divorce him.
