The bloke trains like a half marathoner with some 1500m specialist work in the last few weeks of a block. He said himself the HM is probably his best distance, which means all records from 1500 to HM are up for grabs.
Maybe traditionally, but I think what we're seeing is the paradigm shift.
What people thought was the right way to train for middle distance in the past (and up to the present) just isn't.
Just about every coach that has a background in physiology will tell you that the most important parameter for distance running performance is the anaerobic threshold. And yet very few coaches devote anywhere near enough time trying to develop it in their athletes.
wasn't there a random kenyan dude right behind him? 7:17 is good but if some random kenyan can be within 3 seconds of you is it really that 'great' ? don't get me wrong he ran a world record. but the shoes and wavelight are factors today.
When did he start doping? When he was 12? 15?. He has been best all his life in every aspect. Why would he dope? He is not like a doper who runs slow the whole season before smashing it in the olympic or WC like the other dopers.
Jakob started straining when he learned how to walk. He was destined for this. He is rarely injured and with the tech, shoes, tracks. It can be done ofc. H EL G, the king of EPO, we all know were doping. His ups and down suggested that there was a lot off fishy going on. He had seasons when it did not work for the wholse season and then, on the WC, a week or two later he was suddenly the best by a mile.
It’s weird how people give Jakob so much benefit of doubt.
With most great runners, if they’re too consistent, people say they’re doping. If they’re too inconsistent, people say they’re doping.
How is it that these records were set by dirty athletes, but are getting *crushed* by a clean athlete?
Surely one of these two scenarios is more likely:
- Everyone is/was doping.
- Jakob is proving that it’s possible the older generation was clean too.

When he runs a 12.20 5000,and a 3.24 1500 ,and it becomes a freak show, even the general public will believe hes a doper.
7:17 is not bad. If he was teleported back to 1997 he would not be that far behind Daniel Komen. He wouldn't need the wave lights at least. The shoes from back then might be more tricky to run in, but I have no doubt that he could hang with Komen for 5 laps, even without all the carbon fibre springs
You guys are acting like 1996 was the dark ages. You should check out the shoes that Herb Elliot ran 3:35 in. Now those were the dark ages!

Do you mean the Olympic 10,000m silver medalist, World Cross Country silver medalist, and road 5k world record holder Bering Aregawi?
I honestly did not expect that. Koman's WR just seemed too good. Jacob crushed it, and I didn't know initially about the temps. He's unreal. I hope he gets the 1500 and the 5k too, but, as someone else said, you never know how these kinds of peaks will last.

Yeah, some rando.
He's basically as fast as fisher.
If someone barely beats fisher, is the still a GOAT?
I’m thinking Aregawi is going to break the 5000 wr in a few weeks or early next season. I don’t think 3000 is his best distance and 7:21 was super impressive
