Felt like that was about as close to a perfect race we will see from Holt. After how he looked in the first round it’s nice to see how much better he looked to make the final.
Man, if Cohen can build the fitness to stay mid-pack at the last 100 he'll be world-class, that kick is absurd. And congrats to Holt, it looked ugly but he got through
It's not a kick. His splits are close to even giving it the illusion of acceleration.
Check the USATF results site, Cohen split 13.6 from 600-700 and then 12.3 (!!!) from 700-800. That's a phenomenal kick
Shane Cohen needs to, like, kick 3-4 seconds earlier and he could make the team on sunday
The other competitors better recognize that kick and set a pace where that kick won't matter - at least based on Cohen's current PB. Obviously he could run some big PB on Sunday, so even going out fast might not shake him. This should be a really great final.

Reminds me of another Virginia athlete with a kick

My local NBC station is covering a tornado watch in a nearby county. It’s like, this is June in Iowa, don’t act like there’s not a tornado watch every 4 freaking days.

DQ for Holt??!
Oh no, what happened. This is DEVASTATING for him. He looked so happy.
