1) We're going to create alerts for old threads that have posts in them so we can identify spam in advance of people reporting it. 2) We're going to add "Sex" as a protected class on our Rules page. 3) We're going to study if we should limit how many posts someone has in a thread or at least come up with a way to monitor people posting repeatedly in the same thread and see if this warrants further resources. 4) We're going to track some posters over time and see if we need to deal with their collective work rather than their individual posts. We generally like to evaluate each post on its own but should we modify this.
5) We've added a reason when reporting for posts for people to note the post is just in the run category. 6) What should our "misgendering" policy be. 7) Should we ban VPN servers?
A lot of these seem like great choices, thanks Wejo!
For #7, could you make it so only registered users can use a VPN? That way they can still get banned by username if they break the rules, and then they cannot use random things? This way people who need a VPN can still use it.

Sorry pal, you lack the sophistication to stop me.
What's the difference between "off topic / thread derailing post" and "non running post in running"? Does it seriously matter whether a thread about a college runner getting a NIL deal is flaired as college or pro?
And the non running threads have very obvious title anyway - "Biden ...." or "Trump ..." is obviously not going to be about running so people already know
Facts and arguments inconvenient to Israel are never disproved.
They are smeared as antisemitic and calls are made for censorship.
No smearing and name calling should be allowed to stand.
Show me a single comment I made that is antisemitic.
I think people might say you're anti-semitic from the collective body of your posts. You constantly deny anything negative about October 7th and focus on the atrocities of Israel. Then you also post to links about the power Jewish people have in the government.
Some may concur you just don't like Jewish people at worst or are close minded at best. You seem to be a bit conspiratorial with a lot of your posts so I can give you the benefit of the doubt.
Now perhaps you just think Israel's response is too much and they are using propaganda to enhance their side, but then just say that.
Who knows, people say I hate trans people because I don't think males should compete in female sport and you could argue you are fine with Jews, you just don't like what Israel is doing. But you don't come across that way. You act like some secret cabal is running the country which is an antisemetic trope.
You seem to think October 7th wasn't that big a deal? I think it was horrific. I'd give your current thoughts on Israel's response more wait if you didn't try and downplay October 7th.
Do you believe the Holocaust happened?
.
I have posted facts about 10/7. That of @ 1,200 people killed, @ 700 were soldiers and cops of the remaining 500 deaths, many were at the hand of the IDF. Never said it was not a big deal
I have also put it into context and noted that Israel has killed tens of thousands of Gazans since then and had killed 200+ people in the West Bank in 2023 pre 10/7.
Do you think the murder of tens of thousands is not a big deal?
Do you believe the Holdomor happened? The Nakba?
What does the Holocaust have to do with this?
Why not demand I condemn Hamas? That's the usual tactic
The boilerplate rule you copied & pasted says posts that "threaten, or harass other people" will be removed.
If I were to make a post on LRC saying "transwomen are men" like JK Rowling has done on X/Twitter - or I say Biden cabinet member Rachel Levine is a man the way JKR has called prominent British trans activists men - does that count as me "threatening or harassing people"?
Please consider the difference between this statement of yours:
I'm fine with someone calling Lia Thomas a biological male. That's what she is. You can call her a male as well. Some would get offended at that and says she is a female. Which she isn't.
And this way of rephrasing it:
I'm fine with someone calling Lia Thomas a biological male. That's what he is. You can call him a male as well. Some would get offended at that and says he is a female. Which he isn't.
What's objectionable about my rephrasing? Why?
When discussing Caster Semenya's claim that "having testes doesn't make me any less of a woman," why do I have to say "her testes"?
When discussing the issue of women and girls (the female kind) being distressed about males who say they are trans going into women's locker rooms, loos, spas, changing rooms, etc and exposing their genitals or worse, why should posters have to use terms like "her penis," "her testicles" "her willy" and "she had a stiffy"?
How does using sex-based pronouns when discussing males who say they "identify as" the opposite sex and behave in reprehensible, sexually harassing, threatening, abusive, predatory, violent ways towards girls and women (the female kind) qualify as "threatening or harassing" the men - oops, I mean the "transwomen" - I'm talking about?
Don't you see that your rules make it more difficult for girls and women - and the men who are on our side - to speak plainly and clearly about the harassment, threats, abuse, predation, violence and disrespect that we get from males, including some males who claim to be women ?
I understand the sentiment and that's why we are more lenient with this especially in the abstract. If Caitlyn Jenner was on here obviously out of respece you should not call her Bruce. Pronouns usually are only used when the person isn't present so i don't think that would come up.
But I asked about pronouns, not people's names.
I have no problem calling people by their preferred names. If Jenner want to be called the Queen of Sheba, I'll call Jenner that.
But when talking about Jenner, do I have to say she/her? Do I have to say she won the men's Olympic decathlon in 1976? (Not that there's any other kind of decathlon except the men's). Do I have to say she won a football scholariship to college and played college ball until she got a knee injury and she switiched to track & field ?
If Jenner were actually a woman, Jenner would not have had the chance to play school sports in HS. And Jenner would not have gotten a sports scholarship to college. So it sticks in my craw to have to use language that makes it sound like Jenner is a woman and grew up as a girl.

Wow a response, I wasn't expecting that.
I think all one year or older inactive threads should be locked up. They are usually only dug up by bots and people start responding to 5-15 year old issues which makes zero sense. There might be very few exceptions for this needed.
