Ok I have to brag about picking 1. Muir 2. Mageean 3. Chepchirchir in habs’s fantasy league because that was a tough one to call.
Addy Wiley ran like a pro. It must sting to be Cory McGee and see the 19 year old break 4 in her first DL while McGee faded to another 4:02.
I’m a huge Cory McGee fan but with Wiley’s improvement to 3:59 and Elle returning from pregnancy it'll make it just that much harder to make the OLY team
Honestly, Cory has gotten extremely lucky making the US team in past few years. She almost always goes out too hard and fades to the back in world level races, and doesn’t have a sub 4 time yet. I don’t see her beating a healthy Sinclaire or Maclean next year either.

She hasn’t gotten lucky at all. She is a really good racer and tactically runs better races than everyone else at USAs. But she is now potentially the 5th fastest behind Hiltz, Johnson, Wiley, St Pierre. If St. Pierre runs in her old style and makes it a less tactical 3:56-3:58 race, that is a really bad recipe for McGee.
He will be one level up as usual (as he has been every year for more than 15 years)!
Opposite your former darlings: George Manangoi, Justus Soget, Edward Zakayo Pingua and Stanley Waithaka Mburu.
Disrespectful to lump Mburu with that group considering he has more hardware than pretty big names like Fisher, Aregawi etc.
I know you love the Kenyans TL but read what I was writing:
I stated that the said athletes (who competed against Jakob in the 2018 U20 WC) HAVEN´T IMPROVED STEADILY YEAR AFTER YEAR AS JAKOB HAS.
I have always liked Mburu hoping he will follow up on his surprise silver in the 10000m in Eugene but he hasn´t improved his 5000m and 10000m times for 5 years.

Ok fair enough. Jakob’s times did stagnate between 2021-2 though your point is taken. A small part of this is the investment and management of the athlete. Jakob has a bigger team around him and a ton of resources going into everything to maximize his training, racing and health. To think the average Kenyan has that much going for them especially if they have a lean year or two is probably unrealistic. Soget who was almost a year older than Jakob and beaten by him is on a Japanese corporate team where they are probably reasonably happy with him finishing 2nd in a recent competition (13:15) and winning a number of races at 5-10K last year.
But yes Jakob is one of the most consistent athletes ever, and that’s compared to Western athletes, East Africans etc. He’s even consistent in how he loses World Championships 1500s.

This race is just emblematic of how Cranny is miles away from medaling in the 5000, let alone the 10000. 1500 can’t be bleaker can it?
She should move coaches. She's going backwards. With her 1500 speed and solid strength, she should be competitive for top 6 finishes in the 5 and 10 at championships but she's not even close. She should try and get another voice in her ear, maybe try and follow Kincaid to Mike Smith
Loved that from Muir. It was the manner of victory that was so good. She took the lead before the bell and hammered it. I was sure Mageean would outkick her but Muir's strength held. It's a shame that Worlds came a little bit early for her this year but I'm hopefully she can contend for the medals again next year. Own of my favourite athletes

She ran a tactically brilliant race. Back to her best for sure. She paced it to perfection. Didn’t get caught up in the silly start but didn’t loiter at the back. Pushed the pace when she realised it was slowing. Didn’t leave it too late to go as she knows Ciara is strong. She went at the right time. None of this waiting to the last 200m and trying to outkick she often goes from the bell and hammers it home.
Why do people think Jacob can't beat Komen's great 3K record?
7'20"67 Is a monster time. I'm not sure Jakob will break it but i believe he has a chance to do it. The problem are Mile and 1500m WRs. 3'26"00 and 3'43"10 are out of this world and i firmly believe he doesn't have chances in those two distances. He should concentrate on 3k and 5k WRs. It's really hard but i believe he can get then both if he starts chasing them now before turning 25.

It's been a weird year for her. She has run some good times but perhaps suffered from being in the hard semi in Budapest. She still has some good results, including winning Millrose, and two DL wins. With the trouble she experienced over her coach, she's down pretty well and appears to be happy going into the off-season.
