Jakob said that in order to get through the first rounds without getting involved in anything ruining his run, he treats the others as idiots that will do idiotic things. Not as offensive in norwegian as you would want us to believe.
Yared makes me more excited about US milers than anything since Alan Webb ran 3:53. That’s sort of a lie because when Kessler ran 3:57i/3:34 I thought he was the future but he isn’t here today and wasn’t there in Eugene 22 either.
Nah, he has a reputation for disrespecting his opponents so he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. The intent of his message is clear and he knew what he was saying.
All this whining about the new rules making it too slow and instead we get 3/4 heats at 3:34 or better. I think the new rules actually make it faster, since we get 6 per heat guaranteed now, the top guys know they just need to run 3:34/3:35 and that'll leave them with less than 6 guys to contend with in the final straight. Same thing with the Women this AM
Okay so can we be done with "oh no the lack of time qualification is making it all sit and kicks"
Tokyo Men's 1500m winning heat times:
3:36, 3:40, 3:36
Average 3:37.3
Eugene:
3:34, 3:36, 3:39
Average: 3:36.3
Budapest:
3:33, 3:34, 3:46, 3:34
Average: 3:36.7
No surprise to me. Everyone that matters in these races has always believed they were getting a big Q. Few ever ran a heat praying for a little q by going all out.

Exactly. And the rest have to run a NR to qualify so go all out.

Hocker also looked extremely good. Lots left at the end. Very promising on little training relatively. He and Yared will be a dynamic duo for years to come IF they can avoid injury.
