Yared makes me more excited about US milers than anything since Alan Webb ran 3:53. That’s sort of a lie because when Kessler ran 3:57i/3:34 I thought he was the future but he isn’t here today and wasn’t there in Eugene 22 either.

All this whining about the new rules making it too slow and instead we get 3/4 heats at 3:34 or better. I think the new rules actually make it faster, since we get 6 per heat guaranteed now, the top guys know they just need to run 3:34/3:35 and that'll leave them with less than 6 guys to contend with in the final straight. Same thing with the Women this AM

Hocker also looked extremely good. Lots left at the end. Very promising on little training relatively. He and Yared will be a dynamic duo for years to come IF they can avoid injury.

Yeah it was just my dumb jokey way of saying it’s a common Ethiopian name and it’s a different Girma, not Lamecha like I assume that poster thought.
