Brosnan will be a coach of the new Nike group that will be based in Flagstaff. Won’t be formally announced until ncaa outdoor champs
If true then Nike hasn't learned their lesson after their last egotistical tyrant Salazar.
Elite pro's would never tolerate Brosnan's ego and narcissism. I can see him holding press conferences to take full credit for any good performance his runners had.
Salazar was a world class runner and a great coach. A few women were too fragile or he would still be the best coach in the world. Brosnan was an average runner and a good high school coach. He could hold the stopwatch for Salazar.
So his announcements are he’s “going to” write a book and he’s “going to” start a pro team. Those sound more like New Year’s resolutions than announcements.
Let us know when he has a pro group and wrote a book.
you old timers don’t realize how much the younger generation looked up to Brosnan and the Newbury Park squad. Those same kids are now graduating college and a handful will be champing at the bit to have him as their coach. All Brosnan needs to do is convince one or two of his old HS guys to work with him again and have a little bit of success.
Imagine a Tinman Elite Scenerio but rather than the athletes following Drew they’re following the coach. All funded by a little bit of Nike gear and some kid’s trust fund.
another comparison would be Hudson Elite. That team was always around, always had a rotation of people because there is no shortage of athletes in the Boulder area. Flagstaff is the new Boulder and Brosnan will be the new Brad Hudson
There’s already a collective of athletes in Flagstaff that don’t receive 100% of their coaches attention that could be swayed to leave for a more attentive coach.
According to the podcast, he got in trouble at UCLA for yelling at people for being late
I think that was a funny comment. He was obviously making a point that UCLA was woke or something similar. Most NCAA schools are embarrassing in those situations.
Brosnan can definitely coach and the truth is a lot of pro coaches have never coached world class until they got that first pro job. Such as Ritz , Danny Mackey , Alistair Cragg, Pete Julian, Tim Rowberry, Tinman, the Hunter’s, etc. The list goes on and on.
The one thing Brosnan has over some of those coaches is attention and intrigue. People want to see his next move. They want to see the good and the bad. Say what you want, but the man can coach and Pro’s will be a perfect fit. He makes Track & Field more exciting.

What does can coach mean? He’s allowed to coach and has coached some really good high school kids. I guess that means he can coach. He’s proven that. Has he coached anyone to sub 13, or some other elite times? . We can go through your list on why all those people are different, but the people who were given a pro groups (like ON, Bowerman, OTC, etc) had far more experience, either as an elite themselves or coaching individual pros or college teams to success. A shoe company or other funder is highly unlikely to make a large investment into someone so unproven. If he takes a couple, three pros to a high level, maybe.
I guess we’ll find out who either joins his group or who doesn’t if people will trust him with their livelihood.
Attention and intrigue may make him interesting to fans, but I doubt it has much impact on those looking for a coach to help them make a living.

Can coach? Is that the bar that needs to be cleared to get a pro group? There are a LOT of coaches who can coach and have coached far better and more top runners than Brosnan. So, do they all get pro groups?
