Yep, I really appreciate his informed posts. Pretti should’ve de-escalated, especially while carrying a gun, but he did the exact opposite. Hence the unfortunate outcome.

HOWEVER, he WAS still killed while NOT being a direct threat. Two things can be true at once. You know, like, Harambe can be a leftwing agitating member of the nose-ringed militia and he can also be a narcissist. Reasonable people understand this.

I sympathise, but he had one gun removed when he was shot, he might have had others, and most other leos clearly didnt know this. i agree that with hindsight he probably wasnt a threat at that time, but in the chaos, LEOs couldnt rely on this.

but case law shows that in the chaos of such an incident an officer has to go on what was reasonable.

-the agents were not profiling individuals based on accent, color of their skin, or just looking like a foreigner; they were focused.

-the actions by agents were transparent

-the agents did not wear masks, geared up to their eyeballs and helmets in military gear

-the actions were not meant to intimidate an entire city

-they used court orders and due process
