Yeah, definitely don’t want some kid getting depressed over this. I’ll be more aware of that potential audience from now on.

To the runners: you guys have some serious wheels and I hope you get another crack at States next year to show everyone. And thanks for an entertaining season with some great wins along the way.

State returners of the girl's schools mentioned:

#1 Perrysburg - Loses 4 of 7 including #1...but had 2 kids in the top 10 at State JHS meet

#2 Davidson-Lose 1 of 7 (their 3)

#3 Mason-Lose 3 of 7 (2, 5, 7)

#4 Shaker Hgts. - Lose 3 of 7 (2, 4, 5)

#5 Wadsworth - Lose only their #1

#6 Avon-lose 2 of 7 (2 & 6)

I got to give special mention to Wadsworth... who didn't get out of their District a year ago, and placed 5th at Obetz.

For returners, Milesplit has Hudson boys at #1 in D1 based on 5k PRs.
They aren’t graduating any scorers. But they took 16th at the state meet. Going from that to being state champs seems like a big jump.

Mason loses 4 of their top 5, but they return 15:29, 16:07, and 16:09 juniors. Also a 16:16 freshman who sometimes scored for their varsity but didn’t race at the state meet. If they find a 5th man, they can be state champs. They have a 16:52 freshman and a 16:45 sophomore.

Olen. Orange took third at the state meet and returns 5 guys.

According to the entries list, Mason will be missing their #3 runner (Roe) from the championship race.

Gabelman chokes hard and Ryan Smith decides to finish a race where his teammates weren't counting on him. Ohio boys are a joke

Nah, Gabelman is still a state champ. You can never take that from him.

So Weston finishes 14th at the state meet and then 14th at NXR? Too little, too late? Why couldn't he have stepped it up at Obetz . . . where it really mattered?

Olen Orange was the top Ohio boys team today. They crushed Mason.

Scioto was only 2 points behind Mason

Gabelman ran despite being sick. No choke job at all. Dude gutted it out.

Not sure what's up with Smith. He runs well when there's no pressure, I guess.

But still, Weston Day rocked it! I told people sleeping on him that he just keeps improving

Why couldn't Weston go when it counted? Like last week? Seems he let the lead group of guys get away from him, and didn't even reallt put himself among the 2nd group either. He was never really in contention. Same thing at regionals.

He did great. 14th at NXR, less than 10 seconds from 7th. Always improving in the right direction. Maybe didn’t peak soon enough though.

Seems as if Mason was missing 2 of there top 5 guys. That being there first man(Liao) and there 3rd man(Roe).

Based on the splits, it looks like Gabelman was up there until the last K, which is very uncharacteristic of him, guess he was sick.

But good to see Ricchiuti, Smith, and Walton make the top eight and round out the sub-15 folks.

Richiutti was clearly in the top 5 going into that last turn and got caught at the line. Really sad way for him to end his career, gotta feel bad
