With Brett Robinson in the lead, I have our question of the day - When was the last time a white guy was leading the 2nd half of the New York City Marathon?
My guess is Deek or Steve Jones.
Might have been Ritz before he dropped out in 16(?)
How many were wearing them though?
Men's pack still pretty darn big here
This distance seems too long for Americans.
Eurosport feed says there's a club runner in the lead pack.
Desi plus 28 sec over Taylor at 22 miles.
Jepkosgei is dropping Keitany.
So if they are going to get the CR they need to run 33:25 for the final 10k. That's 5:22.6 pace. They just ran mile 21 in 5:26 and mile 22 in 5:27. Mile 23 was 5:23 (27 for Keitany).
So they need to get back 8 seconds or so. Netiehr women looks good to me. Neither is throwing down like Shalane did several years ago.
Mary getting dropped by Jepkosgei

I am usually pretty tolerant of even marginal event coverage, but this ESPN coverage is so...so...BAD. I think I’ve seen a total of about 10-15 min of actual running so far. I would have just recorded it and played it back but the damn thing started at 9am.
I expect nothing less of ESPN after the past few years. Glad we got see the tool from sport science analyze runner tracker of retired New York Giants players and an interview with the bachelor runner up. That's what everyone wants to see.
I wish the New York RR would come to their senses and get someone who knows how to cover marathons do the coverage. One good thing I can say for Doha is the coverage was fantastic, so it can be done. But NYRR doesn't give a crap, as long as 50K people pay $300 to run their marathon they're happy to let ESPN make a mockery of the elite event.
As I type this we missed the break in the womens race, sure if a few minutes we'll miss it in the mens race as well.
Eurosport2 is working better on the French channel (if you can follow or don't care about commentary)
Men's lead pack from 16 to 5 runners. Korir leading them.
Is that Berian in the decent NB commercial?
Does the leader look at bit chubby??

What a debut.
We're down to five men in the men's race. Albert Korir, Geoffrey Kamworor, Tamira Tola, Girma Gebre, and Shura Kitata have dropped everyone else just before 20 miles.
Desi plus 25 sec at 23 miles. Might get close.
So ESPN says women's last 5k with a race to see if Mary Keitany can catch up to Jepkosgei, yet, they switch over to men's who are still far away from the finish.
Where is Ward? I guess those prototype saucony shoes didn’t make a difference ?
