yeah, she had a great early season but didn't look to be in that form for the championships in the qualifying heats. lots of athletes had awesome early seasons....but it doesn't always translateit's not her season times that you watch, it's how the athlete runs/looks in the qualifiers...and she didn't look like a champion against the other studs she would be racing in the finalYou believed what you thought would happen, not what was happening in front of you. That's what I'm saying. If you genuinely disagree with this, then I don't think you were watching the races close enough.

The IIAF is not the problem. It adopted rules that required hyperandrogenic women to reduce their testosterone levels. These rules were overturned by the Court of Arbitration of Sport after an appeal by Dutee Chand, an Indian sprinter. The IAAF plans to appeal that decision. That is why they are working hard to prove that high levels of testosterone give hyperandrogenic runners an unfair advantage.

nothing made it look like Simpson would get Silver. i don't think anyone is arguing that point"almost"..."could have"..."if". get a clue, it didn't happen nor was it close and she was 5th. The race pans out in the last 50m. you live in a dreamland

I thought so too initially watching from the side in real time, but on the replay from the front Hassan gives her a huge opening and there's no contact.

put simply, their authority comes from the fact that its various signatories (including the IAAF) have agreed to be subject to the CAS's jurisdiction. once they're a signatory, they can't just pick and choose which bits of that jurisdiction they wish to abide by.

IAAF just like any organization can withdraw their "signature" from the agreement with CAS just like Brexit. I think that it would mean however that they would lose access to the Olympics. It would take for the IOC (gutless crooks) to back the IAAF and we know that won't happen.

quite - but in the grand scheme of things to withdraw over the hyperandrogenism issue would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater, imo

In the stretch, Muir moved out to lane 2 and was clear. Muir gained on Hassan, but opened the lane for Jenny. A fading Hassan drifted to the outside of lane 1 to block any passers and that move backfired as Jenny blew right by her on the inside.

Great race to watch.

There's a deeper reason why the IAAF agrees to the CAS's authority: The rule of law. Having independent judges who can decide whether the IAAF is applying its rules correctly makes the IAAF work better. The whole point of independent judges such as the CAS is to keep the IAAF from abusing its power. To do that job, the CAS sometimes has to disagree with IAAF. If the CAS just rubber-stamped IAAF decisions, there'd be no point.

Of course, independent judges can abuse or misuse their power. That's the tradeoff.

65-72, Muir went to the lead and did absolutely nothing. I agree that if Hassan had waited she possibly could have won the race but no do overs. Faith was the best, Jenny ran tactically great for Silver and Caster let them get away ad closed to late.

Let's not get twisted that Hassan had a chance to beat Faith. Faith lost to Hassan after running Kenyans trial then trip to Europe. She was tired, Hassan is good but Faith is one step ahead of Hassan and anyone else as proven today! For drug issues mention by Jenny Simpson, We don't know. Jenny, Faith, Hassan or Dibaba could be doping! Who knows, they all seems to point fingers. If I have to suspect then I will go with top 5 at today's race as dopers minus who has natural steroid. Otherwise, this race was exciting to watch.
