At 17 Bolt was world youth and world junior champion at 200 but he did not run the 400 at any of those event so on what basis would say he was a 400 man at that age.

Blake is not faster than Lewis, at either 100m or 200m, legally. Sorry. He's not faster than Marsh, either--or Fredericks, or Bailey, or whomever.

When Bolt was doing amazing things, everybody said it was because he was taller than the other runners. I pointed out that this was b.s., given Lewis, Obikwelu, Powell, and others.

Now what about Blake? Is he better than everybody else because he is shorter? If that's the case, why didn't Cason or Fasuba run 19.25?

I'm glad everybody is coming around to the opinions that I have been expressing here for a long time now. This WR-quality run by Blake, in the realm of a WR considered untouchable--the best of Bolt's records--is just one more piece of evidence.

And it's EARLY in Blake's career. Sure, once in your life you do something amazing on the track, after enough times you will get lucky once, and you just hope there is official timing involved. But it's so early in his career, that this is not that time--this is his "ordinary" progression. When he DOES get lucky in his career, will he run 18.9? 18.8?

I think the upshot of all this is that the Jamaican testing agency is still bogus.

Consider this: why isn't everybody else around the world running like this? The Americans, let's say.

If the drug were totally undetectable or legal, the Americans would know about it and would be using it, and would be producing the same times. But they are not, so the drug must be illegal, and the US athletes aren't using it because they don't want to get caught by USADA.

The only way the Jamaicans can do it is with the complicity and cooperation of the Jamaican anti-doping authorities. I know there was just a shake-up, but remember: things can always get worse, not necessarily better. They pass international testing because of that complicity, and in Bolt's case, because he IS track and field.

Bolt will never be caught, he can do what he wants. The other guys are scurrying around circuit meets like cockroaches diving for cover when a light is turned on. Soon, they will realize that they will never be caught either, because if they are, they will rat out Bolt--which the authorities are NEVER going to let happen.

Somehow they need to separate Bolt from the pack, in order to bring them all down. Maybe this was just what was needed--a threat to Bolt's supremacy, to drive that wedge. We'll see if the IAAF, etc., are sufficiently astute to sense this opportunity or not--I doubt it, sports people tend to be really dense. It will also test the solidarity of the Jamaican unit, which will likely prove superior to the "intelligence" of the authorities.

However, the Jamaicans decided that the drug he took was similar to one of the banned drugs and gave him a three month suspension. Just like Michael Johnson. His team mates tested positive and lost their medals, but not MJ. Hard to believe.

I've hand timed the video a dozen times and consistently come up with 19.0X. By the way I consider myself an expert hand timer. So 19.26 seems to be on point for FAT. Maybe the track was marked wrong and they only ran 195M, but from start to finish it was 19.26. Training for a sprinter probably hasn't changed much. Shoes are definitely better though. And surfaces are better too.

You do NOT train harder.

You do NOT eat better.

You are NOT more talented than other Caribbeans, West Africans, or their other descendants.

You ARE better, however--by a LOT.

Yes,maybe 19.26 is hard to believe for a white guy.For a black guy that's par for the course.

This kind of reveals the 200 as a "whatever" event.

Blake doesn't run it for a whole year, then runs a world record. I doubt he's training specially for it.
