It's a lot easier for a defense to scheme to hit a guy 15-20 times, when you're not afraid of him running and you know all you have to do to turn him into an average player is to make him move his feet a little.I don't really think Cam is the GOAT ... but I'm starting to come around, that the 'whole package' QBs like Wilson and Newton are better QBs than their pocket passing alone leads one to believe.

The most compelling argument I can make is Cam may not be in the NFL in 5 years. The way he plays the game, he may not last that long, regardless of how big he is. There is a reason why running backs have the shortest career of any NFL position (quarterbacks and kickers have the longest). It is because it is a violent game. Jumping up over guys may look impressive, but it will eventually catch up with him. It caught up with Andrew Luck this year (when he got torn in half by the Broncos), it seems to have caught up with Kapernick, it is one of the reasons Tebow is no longer in the league, it caught up with RG3, and it will probably catch up with Cam. If I had to guess who will be the best in 5 years, I would have to guess Russell Wilson (because he is smart about when he runs) or Andrew Luck (if he can learn to slide). He's already had significant back and ankle injuries, eventually it will catch up with him.
I saw a claim on espn.com tonight that he is like no other NFL qb, changing the position, etc. Actually, he is a LOT like Daunte Culpepper. Cam is 6'5" or 6'6" and 260. Daunte played at 6'4" 264. Their career ratings are within about .2 near 88.0. They both rushed for over 5 yards per carry, though Cam rushes more often. Daunte's career high for rushing td's was 10, which Cam did this year. Daunte had one spectacular year, 2004, when he had something like 36 passing td's, a completion rate in the high 60s (his completion rates were generally much higher than Cam's, whose have been below 60, even this year). Daunte threw for 4717 yards that year, 295/game, while Cam is around 4,000 this year. Daunte had at least a 110 passer rating that year, while Cam's is under 100, but with more rushing yards and a lot more rushing td's. In short, to this point, their careers have been very similar. Ego-wise, they are also quite similar. Daunte was said to be so competitive that he would have to be the best at everything, card games, etc., and might well have also thought he was god's gift. Cam doesn't mind wearing the superman shirt, literally--that is what he is wearing at the press conference. What happens from here on may differentiate them. Daunte suffered injuries and was never the same after 2004.
I agree with this. I couldn't believe that Kam was diving like that in a blowout game. Wilson is WAYYY smarter on his feet, rarely takes a hit.

Yeah, but Daunte was throwing to a Randy Moss in his prime. If Cam Newton had a Randy Moss, Carolina would be 18 and 0. Cam would likely have thrown for 45 touchdowns.
I am certain, from muscle memory, C Newton can bench press at least 350 lbs. today and free weight squat at least 550 lbs. today.
There is no such thing as muscle memory, muscles do not have cognitive abilities.
Muscle memory is shorthand for brain and central nervous system performing task(s) once done. Eg., let's say today, both of us are 135 lbs. and 135 lbs. bench press athletes. I will get very close to doubling those numbers very quickly, a few weeks. What about you?
Zero chance Cam will be the best QB in the NFL for the 2029 season. He was never the best QB, he just had a lucky year.
C Newton was one of the best dual threat quarterbacks, all time. If a quarterbacks runs too often, it takes away from pocket passing development. It is difficult to be great at both.
