4:04.62 is equivalent to 4:24.2, so Cain's mile and 1500m times are virtually identical, and Hedengren is just two seconds back at this point. Cain had a lot more speed and was a 1:59.51 runner, which was a national hs record to go with records at 1500, mile, 2M, and 5000m, although some were after she turned pro. Hedengren is not quite as good as Zola Budd, accounting for super shoes and wavelight, but then she also didn't grow up running barefooted in the hills of South Africa. But you see the potential in the extremely efficient and powerful form (compare Lexy Halladay-Lowry at 24--much more left at the end and good speed but all over the place in her form) and the size and the mentality. She will likely struggle in the kick for some years but will be able to break most American competition a few years down the road with that record-breaking kind of mentality to push from the front.
