That’s mostly correct. I actually look at Jakob in court and in his interviews when questioned about his dad and he doesn’t come across as having any grievance to me. His tone is so shy and lacking offensive and aggression. Or at least a form of vindictiveness or something to show that he actually holds the slightest hatred for papa but none at all was found. I have hated persons before and when quizzed about in the mirror I saw face turn blighted, blood rushing to the brain, muscles tensed up and I lose all tranquility. Jakob? No way he has any hatred for Gjert. He seems there as a proxy for somebody else, the real enemy which is Henrik or even filip. Keep the truth coming and free Papa.

the uphill battle of Gert, is that a very successful person is claiming abuse by his parent, something that stable loving offspring never do in a million years, under a microscope of the court and world community.

look at Henrik's behavior towards Narve, along with his other behaviors and attitudes. If gjert is a grandiose narcissist, maybe the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Today Kristoffer has been testifying. He found an old car contract from 2006 which he’s using as evidence to support Gjert’s extreme need for control.

«Kristoffer Ingebrigtsen said in court that he felt that Gjert bought a car for him so he could control him» (rough translation of an extract from VG today)…. My thoughts… well it’s pretty simple, do you want a free Audi A4 or do you want your freedom? Gjert is simply giving you an opportunity to reflect on your personal values and choices. Stop whining and buy your own car if you don’t like it….

He was asked if he signed the contract and he said yes I wanted the car.

So… this evidence can be used different ways… in some ways it supports aspects of Gjert’s narrative .. that he set consequences, that these kids are all super materialistic ungrateful spoilt brats… (not his exact words).. and also the idea that they are now simply sick of Gjert having the last word on everything. Kristoffer says that’s basically why we are in court. There is also plenty of evidence that they all milked Gjert for as long as they needed him.

If he was really as violent and frightening as they’re now painting him, there are a lot of things that don’t quite make sense to me. Still suspicious there is some revisionist history & exaggeration going on in this case.

As for the stuff about the Bislett guy offering Narve money to run the 5000m, the denial is just comical because the guy has denied it while at the same time admitting it’s true. Make it make sense. Respect to Narve here because he didn’t choose the free car option, seems like he chose to run the 1500m for no payment, rather than taking the money and doing the 5000m. But I guess we will hear Narve’s version soon.

This reminds me of when Gjert refused to allow Henrik to get a motorcycle because Gjert was afraid Henrik would get hurt. Then when Henrik was out of the house and on his own, he got a motorcycle.

Gjert was strict and overprotective, but it came from a place of care. Some of his kids resented him because he didn't let them do whatever they wanted.

Noticed a strange choice of words during Filip’s testimony today.

Han forteller at «tiltalte dyttet ansiktet hans med knyttneven, så han måtte ta et steg tilbake.»

He tells that «the defendant pushed his face with a closed fist, so he had to take a step back.» (my rough translation)

This allegedly happened when Filip was 12-13 and had thrown a ball which hit Jakob (7 years younger) in the face, giving him a nose bleed.

So.. this was roughly how Aftenposten reported this part of Filip’s testimony (article is behind a paywall so I haven’t linked it) whereas other newspapers reported it as that he was hit with a closed fist. According to Aftenposten he used the verb «å dytte» which roughly means to push.

This is the sort of thing that makes me more doubtful about the case against Gjert. When these guys are scraping their memories for concrete incidents and they come up with things like Gjert bought me an Audi with strings attached, Gjert pushed me slightly so I had to step backwards after I gave my brother a nosebleed… hmmm.

Coupled with Nordås’ testimony today which somehow rings more true about the macho vibes between the brothers, fighting and answering back. As well as Nordås giving us more insight (speculative) into how the VG-kronikk might have originated. Nordås had apparently been interviewed by a VG journalist a few days before, an interview that they never published. His interview would have painted the brothers (or at least Henrik) in a bad light. He speculates that this interview was «traded» for the VG-kronikk - although of course everyone involved denies this… but Nordås seems to think that he asked someone at the time and got the impression that yes that’s basically what happened.

Overall my ma takeaway at the moment is: I can’t believe this trial is going to go on for another month.

He was clear about what happened in court. Also, why don't you mention tge chokehold that he witnessed his father has on Kristoffer?

The thought that violence have to be knockout punches is quite wrong to say the least. Putting your fist up in a childs face is a wrong thing to do.

Yes, that’s fair and Gjert will probably be convicted, although him pushing Filip is not part of the charges but presumably is being used to show a pattern of behaviour.

I’m not attached to a particular outcome. If this legally warrants a conviction then fair enough. However, I can see a version of the truth that’s different from the brothers’ and sister’s current version. I find it odd that the Ingebrigtsen brothers are painting themselves completely differently now than the image they have portrayed for years.

I’m sure we’ll hear all sorts from Henrik who’s up next. I’m interested to hear what Martin (who’s not on the Jakob gravy train) has to say. So much does not ring true about their entire prior public personas and all the interactions we’ve seen, and what Narve has seen, if the Ingebrigtsens really have been terrorised by Gjert their whole upbringing to the extent that they have been ruined by him, don’t feel joy, are just numb training/ racing machines..

And yes, I know people respond differently, I know people develop various layers of defence mechanisms, repress traumatic events etc etc but there is so much public content to the contrary. Are they saying they had a good ol laugh with Petter Northug on the track in St. Moritz feeling nothing, going behind closed doors and feeling broken. No, these are incredibly resourceful, privileged high-performing individuals with advanced support systems who exude self respect, self discipline…

I just keep in mind the context from which the accusations came. I can’t help but think that this case arose primarily because of PR, money & winning.

I’m also not sure who this prosecution benefits, which I think might be why the brothers reported to a tabloid newspaper rather than to police. Imo it was purely a PR move, they didn’t do it to get their Dad criminally convicted of domestic / child abuse.

People I’ve spoken to about this in Norway seem to either not care, are not following this case and think «this has nothing to do with me and should not be public» or they are horrified that other cases of this nature are not being investigated or prosecuted with anything like this level of vigor.

It gets worse. Elisabeth was told her & Jacob had ruined Christmas by going to her parents. And Henrik was not allowed to drink Coca Cola at family gatherings. Lock him up!

I feel sorry for you that you either genuinely think thats what its about, or that you somehow is so invested in this that you have to pretend so. Which one is it?

This trial looks more and more frivolous with each passing day. The complaining kids are showing themselves to be petty, ungrateful, and spoiled brats who are untrustworthy.

I very much agree with you here. And I would recommend Orunner to read the linked discussion forum (in Norwegian, but easy to translate, f.x by using google translate) for a well balanced and informed opinion…

Didn’t find the bits I read particularly balanced. I assume these are a combination of gen Z fans of Elisabeth & Liva’s podcast, or the some of the same people who believe vehemently that Johaug tested positive because of lip salve.

I haven't been following this case in like 2 weeks. Did they take a break? What's going on? About two weeks ago, all English reporting seemingly stopped.

Can someone briefly summarize what happened after Gjert took the stand.

They have a break during the Easter holidays. The trial will resume on Tuesday, April 22nd.
