The meet management is horrible. How did a bunch of guys on the start line have the wrong hip number? Also makes no sense that these guys can keep to the schedule perfectly when they have 10,000 heats of the mile at Terrier/Valentine but struggle to do so at a low key meet like this.
Pretty sure it was said on the LRC pod that Valentine / Terrier are organized by BU, but this meet is run by a private company trying to capitalize on people needing a last-minute qualifier
Kind of insane when a dude runs 3.47.2 on the second day of March and everyone is bummed. No excuses but the scheduling complications don't really help matters when you are trying to run that fast.
Just shows you the track doesn’t run the time. Things were off on this one. It went out too slow like they were going for an AR not WR. Mario couldn’t make it 1,000 let alone 1200 and Yared was hanging on vs attacking off a modest pace.
sounds like a really great effort in a most mediocre of setups.
setups are worth several seconds
Yeah it was not great. He still ran really good and will probably take some time to rest from a fairly active indoor season before WIC(is he even running it) and GST.
You guys are extremely overrating the delay of the meet. I am sure that they adjusted their warm up to match the projected time of the race. Nuguse ran at his max capabilities and today he was only capable of 3:47. Jakob remains the King no matter how many excuses you give. Would you guys give the same amount of excuses to Jakob, no way.
If you are going to take down Jakob, EVERYTHING must be perfect. This was far from perfect and not totally under Yared’s control.
h everything has to come together to take down his WRs. Yared was not pushed like he was at Millrose so that probably did not help.
If he wants to set the wr now, he needs Jakob in the race, the perfect pacer. Sit on him and hope to win, like he almost did a pre. The indoor mile record WAS soft, but no longer. Now you need Jakob. Outdoors, nobody is setting a wr without Jakob there to set it himself or drag somebody else right to the threshold. If any more 1500/mile records are broken in the next year or two, Jakob will be the reason even if he’s not the record setter in the end.

It was freakin' amateur hour. Started an hour late. Too many people in the race for a record attempt.
First he lined up on the inside lane for the start (which would have been ok). Then they moved him out to (n-1)th position from the inside, so he wound up having to jostle people on both sides off the line, and run wide around the entire first turn, and weave through the people coming in from the outside alley.
He needed an absolutely perfect ride, and his shot was gone by the end of the first lap.
Fisher's record attempt was also nearly ruined by lapped runners, but he had a huge cushion. They need to run less people in the race for these record attempts.
It had the vibe of a poorly run high school meet. A serious world record attempt should not be delayed by 18 heats of the 200 and heats of the 500 and 300. For a world-class athlete to plan his schedule around a meet like this has to be pretty disappointing, in retrospect.
no chance he can break that time. To break it he basically has to run 3:44 indoors. That would be like 3:42 outdoors. That 3:45 of Jakob is an incredible time and not to be under estimated in hits greatness!
Some world-class stupidity here. Or ignorance. Or most likely both.
Or I suppose Vlad's bots might have invaded here.
I think this one malfunctioned. It meant to post on that GBT thread about Zelensky being bullied by "alpha men". Just more evidence that GBT is closeted.

I guess we can now all appreciate why meets like Millrose are just for the elites.
In hindsight I wonder if they regret trying to do this here because it did seem like a spur of the moment'ish deal. Maybe they got tricked by Kejelchas experience back in 2019 which worked out for him.
Either way it's cool to have run 3.46 and 3.47 indoors but a lot of racing for this guy coming up in the next 7 months - this in hindsight doesn't seem additive.
per my OAC sources, they literally warmed up 4 times.
this was over before it started
Per my OAC sources, Nuguse did triple threshold yesterday.
i cant use my shift key cause i'ma moron.
Here they come…all the excuses. What a joke. why would you be attempting a WR and do something so stupid the day before. Sounds like he doesn’t know what he’s doing

actually you are just angry at the news, shooting the messenger
we have multiple people on this thread with sources AT THE MEET
all sources are saying that there was mass confusion/hysteria. it's obvious if u watch the video... the meet mgmt was literally re-doing hip numbers on the friggin start line
there's another thread already where litigation possibilities are being explored

Evidently you didn't see any threads after the olympic 1500m, or you've managed to forget them over the past couple months

Do you have split personality disorder? You were criticizing Jakob just a couple weeks ago for whatever random crap. Now you are calling him king. Cut Nuguse some slack. He went after a Jakob WR and just was not able to get it. Not a big deal.

Outdoors and indoors are pretty damn even, but Yared is not at his peak fitness which he said before and after Millrose. Jakob probably isn’t either but he’s probably a second or second and a half faster all things even and stays closer to his peak.
