1st heat of 3k ACC has some decent runners, could see a scorer or two come from the "slow" heat

So long as none of them trip all over the other 42 athletes in the field
Winner of slow W heat grabbed 8th overall
Gotta be a sinking feeling to be sitting on the bubble in the womens mile or 3k and your conference meet is already done and watch Hartman go hard from the front in a championship race pulling a qualifier in the mile and setting up her teammate for a qual in the 3k.
UNC men's 3K with Sands, Strand, and Wolfe has a solid shot of placing 3 in the top 5. Huge points but Couttie's been on fire and Gary Martin/Rocky Hansen could easily play spoiler.
Stacked conference 3k - Wolfe, Strand, Martin, Hansen, Couttie, Sands?
I bet the women’s mile only has two scratches.
are flash results working for you guys?
Wachtel takes section 1 7:52 over one of the Youngs

New ACC record for Kennedy. Stanford already making their presence felt in the ACC.
Kennedy looks more thin than a year ago...not judging or saying she was overweight but clearly looks more thin.
As an NC State fan Henes drives me crazy pulling stuff like this about 9 days out from nationals. Chasing a Record mile time is what she was doing. Not a smart big picture decision.
Or not, why did all three not start? Guess focus is on NCAAs.
UNC DNS is so soft. My god. The team battle wasn't over!!! They just said track isn't real and we don't care. What a joke. Skip me with the "olympic sports are dying" BS. So pathetic.
Stanford making this n honest pace 2;32 at 1000
Or their focus is on NCAAs. Who knows why? Seems like an odd decision to hold out your fastest 3 guys, but those fastest 3 guys might have been feeling tweaks/needed rest. Does suck for the team standings, an odd choice given how impactful having just one of them in the field would have been.
Young was pacing Sprout.

6/7/8 come from heat 1
No Hansen Strand Wolfe, so it became Martin vs Tewalt. Gary saved up a kick this time.

7:36 with a 27.0 last and he made it look easy. Insane how badly Strand buried him two days ago.
- Clemson will take the title on the womens side, but Stanford had a great appearance, taking 2nd in their ACC debut
- Unless they get DQ'd, VTech should take the men's team title
- Obviously it's impossible to know what happened and what would have happened, but UNC would have had a great shot at a possible team title if they didn't scratch sands, strand, and wolfe.

Okay, I'm honestly glad they did. They've been going, going, going since the end of cross country. Setting that record for the 3K back in December was huge. Lots of media attention surrounding that.
I surmise they are focusing on NCAAs.
You gotta know when to fold them; can't be the superstar all the time in a conference this competitive. And they already did amazing in each of their off events. Strand in the 5K and Wolfe in the 1600m DMR anchor.
maybe they were feeling sick, who knows. I give them a free pass for being amazing the other 90% of the time.
