The media has no idea what they are talking about. Since when has a disgruntled pulled off all category 9 hit like this. This was a professional assassination, with all the hallmarks of Eastern Europe/Russian work.

I find it disturbing that there is all this attention to this murder, yet there are about 45 homocides by guns every day in the US. And those get no attention.
If their goal is to get me to sympathize with the deceased, I've got to say it's having the opposite effect.
Also, the hitman theory is obviously possible, but I don't see why it's any more likely than retribution for a life-changing denied claim. United has screwed over millions of people; surely at least one of them has significant military/firearms experience.

The Israelis had nothing to do with this. KSB and Mossad despise each other. Absolutely blind hatred between them. They would never collaborate on a major assassination like this, not even the post-hit exit strategy.

He is indeed a regular poster and he was willing to risk his sub 14 5K, beautiful wife, 140 IQ (well he still has that), $250,000 salary for one shot at making $100,000. He apparently read the post nuptial shutoff thread, had been shut off for a couple weeks, and thought a celibate prison life couldn’t be much worse.
The bottom line is that many of us should all take this moment to reassess our own security needs and increase them accordingly. If you live any kind of successful life in America, you are a target for the lower classes.

This is true even amongst poor and working class people. We're talking more crimes of opportunity than anything else... wrong place, wrong time. You survive long enough to escape the trailer park, barrio, or the 'hood by blending in and not drawing special attention to yourself.
This was a targeted killing meant to send a message in all likelihood. Totally different kettle of fish.
Good. My son, his teenage years, had some minor health issues and United denied every single legitimate issue. One of the most corrupt companies in the USA. They make you pay premiums and then deny everything. EVERYTHING. Good riddance.
10 million a year is really not that much. It’s enough to not worry about basic things like cars, boats, 1st Class, house, vacation house. But you can get overextended very quickly if trying to keep up with the CEO joneses.

2. His wife hired an assassin to take him out.
3. Someone shot him b/c he was denied healthcare (or his family member was).
4. Someone shot him as a political statement, like he views the CEO as the symbol of what's wrong with the system.
5. Lastly - and this is a little far-fetched, but this has happened before - the United CEO hired a hitman himself. The reason he would do this - he's facing lawsuits, and possibly would get convicted for insider trading - so he wants to end it all and make it look like a homicide. That way his family still gets the insurance money.
The weirdest part is that the hitman only waited 5 mins. Like, how did he know that he was going to be walking across just then?
Good to set out the full range of options but I find the 'hired assasin' option completely implausible.
Of all the ways to assassinate him this is the one where you're most likely to get caught, despite a truly impressive escape so far.
