A lot of athletes that previewed the course this morning under good conditions will be in for a rude awakening tomorrow. The poster who described it as “gelatinous” is spot on. Tonight and tomorrow morning’s rain will pool on top of the ground in many spots and the soil will turn to goo. The boys will have much tougher footing to deal with.
Most of the favorites will still place high but, expect the athletes from dry places to suffer more. Altitude kids won’t lose many places but California athletes will drop 8-10 places off of projections.
oh please. California runners are tough just like anywhere else. It won't effect them. Jason Parra and Josh Bell were 8th and 9th last year.
Told you so! Always trust the local knowledge. None of the big name Cali girls raced up to their vaunted reputations and speed ratings just as I predicted. Glendoveer sure as hell ain’t Woodward Park or Woodbridge plus this year’s weather is pretty par for the course.
Kudos to Clovis! They ran an incredibly smart team race to make the podium. They looked so controlled and confident throughout.
Teams can choose their name, but cannot use their high school name
And yet, some of them use it
do they use their high school name or is their high school name also conveniently the name of a town or something else near by? Niwot, Herriman, American Fork, Carmel etc are all high schools named after a town.
Adams moved to MVHS when she was 13 years old. She’s been there all 4 years. I hardly think a 13 year old willingly moves away from her friends in hopes of winning a race she likely never heard of at the time. SMH

Considering I used to run with her older sister who transferred to Vista FOR running, I think I would know.
They are about 15 runners deep. Don’t know that they need transfers, just more development.
It’s not like mountain vista recruits
There are other reasons. Those transfers choose the school themselves. Maybe, they had no one at their level to train with at their old school, their parents move, their former coach isn’t good, they would rather run for a team that goes to or wins national meets like this

So, they just magically arrive at the school I suppose. No phone calls? Emails? If the coach takes those calls or emails, it’s recruiting. This is the way of success in high school now—transfers, clubs, and recruiting. Coaches either do that or they will get crushed. Simple. Identify talent, recruit, transfer.

Uhh…Clovis IS in California too. So now you want to move the goalposts to it’s just Cali girls that are soft?🙄

My wife is pregnant right now with our future daughter. Mountain Vista is our closest high school. This is my proof for in 17 years that she wasn’t recruited when she turns into a really good runner.
Interesting because her older sister hates running and quit not even a semester in at the university of Maryland… their family moved during covid because of all the California restrictions, not to go to a school that didn’t even go to nxn Adam’s first two years
