As someone who has raced at Wickham twice and against Ridgefield four times this season.........

Wickham is a ridiculously tough course. Bowdoin is also an incredibly tough course. Not a lot of opportunity for that team to run fast. Especially in a year in which NE's was at Wickham.

Their #2 runner (who was #1 at NXR) debuted at the Opens this year due to injury. Raced Opens, NE's, NXR)

Your team times are also off. At NE's, Ridgefield ran a team time of 1:19:5x (not sure exactly, but averaged 15:59). Shattered the Wickham record that they set at State Opens.

They were also uncharacteristically bad at NXR. You would expect Manley (their #2 at NXR) to be like three spots ahead of Lovett, which would have dropped their team score 6 points, and their #5.

More importantly, their typical #4 blew up and finished #6 on their team, dropping their team score by about 40 points (based off of team results, you would have expected him to finish just ahead of their #5)

After all this, they still only missed it by 11 points, and this was the year after losing the best runner in NE. If the At-Large's are based off of best race at NXR, they don't belong in, but if it's based off of best team, they most definetely do.

Ridgefield is a good team but they run into the same problem as last year. The NE second auto qualifier was 19th at nxn with a 16:24 average at boudin and the New York teams were dead last with a 16:51,16:56 average at boudwin. the 16:35 isn’t the best look but if what they did beforehand was more impressive, it may be overlooked (

This doesn't count for anything, since Shen was missing their 4-5-6 runners at the council meet. The head-up result in the Class A race matters; the merge does not. Saratoga will not get a bid, no way.

Some non-CBA Northeast teams placed high at NXN before. Bishop Hendricken took 4th in 2018 and LaSalle Academy took 6th in 2019

The problem with this is that nothwest, southwest, south and even California were sending much slower teams back than they are now. nxn champ in 2016 averaged 16:00 at eagle park

I personally think American Fork, Vandegrift and Taylorsville should be getting an at-large.

I agree, the last spot should go to Ridgefield unless there is an an outstanding 3rd place performance at the California state meet

Santiago Corona girls team 3rd place in 18:00 average behind Trabuco Hills and Buchanan. How’s that for an at large?

JSerra hasn’t raced yet because they’re in a different division

Fossil Ridge and Lone Peak average were barely under that at NXR, so I’d say great chance, even if JSerra beats Santiago in the merge

Santiago is going to get murdered in the merge with their 4th and 5th finisher.

JSerra will have to have a huge off day not to beat them, and I think only 1 at large will come from CA.

Great Oak only 6th in D1 so Rocky has absolutely nothing on their resume no that doesn’t have a massive asterisk.

Santiago isn't getting an at large. Their performance also shows California may have been overrated.

Bridgeland girls should be in over Carmel or any SE team. They've come 2nd closest to Flower Mound behind a full strength Ventura team at Woodbridge. They are also one of a few teams who have a front 3 even near that class outside of the top 5 schools.

J Serra has all the info they need to get an at large. They run a time trial with no pack interference and they know what they need to average to be close.

Well the California races are done for the Boys and it’s evident California not only deserve 2 teams. Very off year for Calif.

so for at large here is what is the right answer:

1) American Fork - this one is unanimous and straightfwd. 3rd in stacked SW.

2) Austin Vandegraaf - 3rd in south with close range to 2nd.

3) Rocky Mountain - 3rd in stacked nw pretty close to 2nd.

4) Plainfield North - 3rd in their region

as for Taylorsville beating Rocky - that was early season meet which Gonzalez discounts heavily. Rocky won Firman in 2022 and received zero credit. Rocky barely lost state to CDA NXN champ. Taylorsviille was distant 4th - they were not hot on a very flat track like course. Rocky also achieved #2 nationally in Hoka nationals.

I also highly doubt Santiago is getting an at-large.

Are you trying to be annoying? Why wouldn't taylorsville be second in line? California races aren't halfway finished and they are running fine, not amazing but not bad.

Rocky got beat by a lot at state, it’s just that it’s a small not competitive field so the point total is small. The time difference was big.

Rocky ran 7 seconds faster at NXR than they did at Firman, which was a hot day. They still didn’t run as fast as Taylorsville did at Firman, who narrowed the gap to Herriman at NXR from Firman.
