So…did Sehome run poorly at State or did Mercer Island run well? Just curious on the explanation of Mercer beating Sehome yesterday. Or did Sehome run well at hole in the wall and Mercer ran poorly?
I think they both ran great. Mercer just has those 2 low sticks so in a big field they might be able to pull ahead of Sehome like we saw in the state merge. Sehome can pack it up really well, and they have a super small spread, but MI's 1+2 are pretty incredible.
I think that boys top 4 is spot on....teams that could sneak in the 4th spot would be Sehome, Mercer Island (Kamiakin if they didn't lose a couple guys to injury)
Very strange for Crater to name their club "Nike Oregon Project" given the history of that team...
Also, I was curious regarding the best team performances accross both genders, since I would consider success on both sides to be the mark of a great coach.
I compiled every team that has gotten in the top 5 in the elite race with both their boys and girls, in the years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023, as these are the 5 most recent NXR NW races at full strength.

MI 2 low sticks? How about 3. Their 3rd runner placed 11th.

Well, in the girls race at Hole in the wall, Sehome beat MI head to head too. But in this list, both Mercer Island boys and girls teams are listed at the top of the top WA teams. Mercer Island girls team does in fact has two low sticks (sisters).
