How easy would it have been to put Rod Dixon in as the color commentator for the men. 40 years since his thrilling win in 83. He is in town, well spoken and a legend. ESPN could have had a field day with side vignettes of Rod's win and career. The idiocy of US marathon production crews is astounding.
Actually, I vow to keep the ESPN broadcast for as long as possible so I can note how bad it is.
Can we note down time stamps of the worse aspects of it so I can make a lowlight clip about this broadcast, which I can put up on youtube, and that will accompany my final column on Letsrun as I'll be finally cancelled by the PC police?
You must live a miserable life. Do you EVER have anything positive to say?
Not today.
They just gave us an hour of the wheelchair races and can't even point out that the women's course record DID just fall. The men's and women's wheelchair races started at different times.Catherine just DESTROYED the course record yet Jon Anderson said she didn't break it.

BWAH. Kosgei had to try 8 times to get those little water cups from the volunteers. She looked disgusted at the cup she finally got but was empty from spillage. Ha, it's hard to be a normie.

Tola looking good in the men's elite.King Ches paying for not having super shoes?Korir's form not pretty to watch at all....Taylor yet again in the women's elite is very impressive.
The women hit 15k in 52:29 (25 seconds slower than in 2021 when they nearly go the course record). Then they ran 5:43, 5:45 for miles 10 and 11. 5:44 for mile 12. All you need to know is Molly Huddle was leading at 11. 20 split is 70:20. In 2021 they split 68:59 so they're now 1:21 down. *** Former champ Albert Korir started pushing the pace and mile 8 was 4:40 and mile 9 unofficial 4:30. That made the pack just 5 with it being Korir, former World champ Tamirat Tola, half marathon ace Jemal Yimer, NAIA star Zouhair Ralbi and Olympic medallist Abdi Nageeye. Cam Levins and Edward Cheserek at the 1st chasers.
Not the accent. He's not adding much at all. Anderson is having a very tough time playing off on him. Tough day here for Anderson.
I think that’s Rojo’s point. The color commentator should have great analysis or be a legend of the sport (or ideally, both). If that person has an accent, who cares.
But if you have someone who is neither a legend nor a good analyst, then at least have someone people can easily understand.
Lagat is terrible. An English language broadcast should have a commentator with a good command of the English language. That's not racist; that's being professional.
