Jackson will never get the record as long as she is focused on it. She needs to let go, and run free.

This shows how insane FloJo was. 21.34 was in prehistory. On today’s tracks? idk, but faster for sure. And that was forever ago.

The form, the stride, the balance…

Unlike BJ, she really got to put those records away. BJ would have, had he not been injured earlier. Those were insane days.

Dolt’s 9.58 is also WAY down there, I think it is slightly faster than what BJ would have run. It could stand for decades longer, who knows.

Jackson just needs to run free in Eugene, and we’ll see…

Why is Lilian Renguruk, a convicted doper being allowed to compete? Remember when Kenya said no dopers would be allowed to run for them? World athletics is a joke, Kenya is a joke. And they still wonder why nobody is taking the sport seriously.

I think you are too harsh, but doing the 2 mile instead of the 3,000 was a head-scratcher. If he goes for the mile WR in Eugene, no issues with the 2k here as going for the 3k just before might be a bit ambitious.

I thought you knew the story. She was trying to get pregnant but could not and asked her doctor for help, who gave her these hormones. She didn't notify the iaaf of whoever is in charge of using this. It showed up on a drug test and she got this mild punishment.

Yeah, its an extremely waste of time to run the 2000 to match up against the best of all time. What is the point to even try to take a record from El G? Why doesn't he attempt a legit record? He is 22 years old, why did he waste the only opportunity he had by running the 2000?

All in all, a waste of time, nothing good came out of today for his career and for the running world. Bet he wakes up tomorrow and is just "aaaa, today I just got to do something productive because I wasted all day yesterday :( :( :( "

The 300m World’s Best would be a more apt comparison, because there’s actually a top list on the World Athletics site and a number of great athletes have set the record over the years. Still, I think the 2,000m has more historical significance. If Lyles ran the 300m record and went ahead of 2. Van Niekerk 30.81 3. Michael Johnson 30.85 and 4. Usain Bolt 30.97 I would consider it good entertainment and an impressive achievement.

Yeah remember when Faith Kipyegon had a brief fixation on the 1000m WR? It was odd, but it was pretty clearly because I don't think she was there yet as far as the 1500/mile. The Jakob part that I guess can cause some frustration is he IS there for the 3K record, and has pretty much said so. Choosing the 2K/2 mile, he's somewhat danced around it for whatever reason.
