The foreman of the jury in the first trial said for Jane Doe #1 who reported a consensual encounter and got $400K, the jurors voted *not guilty* by 10-2. The foreperson said the "victims" lacked credibility and the evidence "didn't pass the smell test.
Listen to the jury foreman from the first trial on Jane Doe #2. He says jurors concluded she was "manipulating that situation because she did not get the romance she wanted" This is the same woman on the basis of whose credibility Masterson is now going to prison for 30 year.
This jury was also hung over the ex-girlfriend account. There were 3 accusations of rape in this trial and he was convicted for the other two. Not sure how much research you're doing.
Testimony counts as evidence, and there were witnesses in terms of verifying the victims' account. At a party of Scientologists, one victim came downstairs after going upstairs to take a nap and said he’d raped her. So people didn't see the rape but they saw the person right after. There is paperwork of one of the victims reporting it to the church and them advising her not to report it to the police. She did anyway. There are 5 women who have accused him of rape and he was convicted for 2 rapes, 15 years each. They're not just taking someone at their word—there's lots of other testimony and supporting evidence. You think in a jury that doesn't believe his ex-gf, there's not going to be one dude or woman who's like, WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE.
Posters making up their own evidentiary standards.
Since #MeToo, we should shut down F.B.I. crime lab. Since 00s in U.S., almost every state has a mini-f.b.i.-like crime lab. Shut those down too. Why have crime labs when now evidentiary standards have changed.
This man was sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON with no possibility of parole until 2053. Most convicted murders in U.S. receive shorter sentences. A young lady told a friend? Is that all it takes?

Can you source these claims you make? I find none of this in the media.
Did you read Jane Doe's testimony from the trial pasted earlier?
I didn't read that Jane Doe testimony, just noted if that Jane Doe is the same ex-gf in the new trial, she was discounted again. I won't link anything because a lot of my search was cursory but I read the NY Times comments on the case verdict where a lot of people have the same reaction—where is the evidence—and other people refute that. You can read there. They talk about how the NY Times is never going to write about the violent nature of the accounts. It kind of led me down this path where I was googling his name and why he used to call himself Dj Donkey Punch. It's really sadistic. I don't know if that specifically came up in the trial but I could see why a jury would be disgusted by him if the things he has openly said about himself aligns with their accounts of what happened sexually. Reddit also seems to have a lot of discussion.

Why don't you wait until you have a fact or facts before posting on this thread again.

At least I admit what I don't know. I'm not like a bunch of you guys who sit here and don't do anything but cross your arms and say prove it to me, dismissing a verdict that took maybe more than 4 years to get to.

So you cannot tell me where you came up with those very specific claims?
Congratulations on proving the poster you responded to correct.
You can ridicule that poster because he sounds hyperbolic and unsophisticated, but his argument that rape seems to be excessively punished isn’t without merit. Each of Masterson’s convicted rapes carries a life sentence (eligible for parole after 1, but it is not unreasonable to wonder whether the women he hurt are suffering every living moment as much as he would confined in prison.
It’s a difficult conversation to have on what is a reasonable punishment for a heinous crime, nevertheless the legal system doesn’t work in a knee jerk manner but is consistent with most people’s simple common sense. A murder is worse than an act of violence that leaves one paralyzed for life that in turn in worse than violence that eventually heals, and so on. A violent rape of a minor is worse than sex with a girl below age of consent, etc.
I’ve had this conversation with a very small number of women friends whom I trusted enough to have this conversation with, and they essentially admitted they didn’t know how to quantify the extent of damage caused and weren’t sure they would feel permanently maimed for life by a date rape but took the word of women who had been raped, however none of them had been raped and were all very strong willed women. I have also known women who were raped and are now living seemingly happy family lives, but I for obvious reasons have never broached this subject with them. I don’t doubt that they are scarred for life by that experience— I can imagine I would be if sexually violated—but it is far from clear to whether the trauma of nonconsensual sex is commensurate to that of life behind bars.
We seen to have chosen the punishments we have for rape more as a deterrent, because we really really don’t want our women getting raped, than out of a sense of justice.

they’re the ones paying Rojo for this little safe space to hate. the incel, alt right, social politics stuff generates much more traffic distance running.
it’s probably paying for the content on the front page.
lol ok bisexual man. Go home. Conservatives don’t want crazy women who are power hungry to be men trying to f a good man’s life. Like go home. You’re obviously not straight lol

Why not?
I told you I read it in the NY Times commentary. You can read through those and judge for yourself. I'm trying to be transparent. It's a step to what other information is out there and more of something to grasp that may have been court testimony than anything posted here.

This latter part I've seen in a couple of places. Try People magazine or The AP.
